Arrival Story: Ollie came into our home on January 7, 2011.He came from a rough place and bad start to his life. He came from a Puppy Mill in Texas. I got a call for a rep in Texas for "Animal Rescue of the Rockies". He told me he had this 6 - 8 year old dachshund. First off he did not look the age he said...we took him home anyway as he needed a loving home. He was dumped with two other dogs on the middle of a very busy highway in Texas. He was lucky to make it into the arms barely getting hit of a loving dog owner and shelter volunteer. I had done one transport before, drove to Trinidad,CO. Picked up Oliver and this other dog named "Superman" aka Elmo now. He could not walk at all. I made a vet appointment for Ollie and we saw this gentle vet man, named Dennis Markway. He said his teeth are loose and need cleaning. I knew that but they had told me they were cleaned, no way. Doc said he maybe 10 or 12 due to the cateracts. My feeling is we do not know how old he is, so we go with 12 for now. He lost 8 teeth and once the antibotic was working he felt ever so much better. His face was happier and his eyes so much brighter. He quickly became attached to Daddy. We just found out he has an enlarged heart on December 12, 2011. He will need to live on meds the rest of his life...but a much happier life than where he was in Texas.
