My husband and I were looking for a companion for our first dog Buddy. I saw her on the website for the same shelter we adopted Buddy from a month earlier. She looked like his twin.
When we got to the shelter there were several other families looking at her, but she was so sick she didn't notice anyone.
She was only 17 pounds when she should have been 40, and shaking like a leaf. Her eyes were so sweet though- I knew she was sick despite being told to the contrary.
We took her to the vet the first chance we got- which turned out to be a couple days after bringing her home. The vet confirmed our suspicions that Lucy had three types of internal parasites, ear mites and an infected spay site. After much tlc and medication she got well.
We started her on a high quality dry dog food and she gained her spirit back.
It took about 6 months before she would let us pet her(she'd been in a hoarding situation with 50 other dogs).
Now she can't get enough of us. We take her on outings to see friends, both dog and human, and she gets to stay on a farm with Grandpa and Grandma and "aunts" Maddie and Zoe.
She loves to walk, talk and play.

OK so today I got to play in the snow! I ate the snow, ran in the snow, and rolled in the snow!
I love the crunchy white stuff!
My brother didn't like it as much, I just couldn't figure out why? I kept jumping on him to chase me but all he wanted to do was go inside to "cuddle" on the couch.
My human and I walked and walked around the backyard and front yard finding all sorts of things to smell along the way.
So much fun and then Daddy came home!
I ran to greet him and we played in the snow too!
Now it is time for cuddle time under the blanket while the humans warm up!
