Arrival Story:
Pet adoption, rescue, and advocacy are my life. So when I realized there were almost no breeders for standard wire hairs I began to worry. How would I ever find one in a rescue? That's when I randomly started searching Petfinder.com. I searched "Dachshund" and a rescue I had met at many pet adoption events popped up. Smooth, minis, minis, minis. Then.... :O STANDARD WIRE HAIRED DACHSHUND! My heart stopped, this couldn't be true. Oh but it was. Retired show dog, 8 years old, 26 lbs. They spelled standard in capital letters over and over. They emphasized on her size so much I knew I had found my other half. I screamed, cried, jumped around , I was so happy. Filled out the application, I was a prefect match (duh), and we picked her up that weekend. 8 hour drive total to get my beautiful girl. It was the best road trip of my life. She loved me as much as I knew I'd love her the first day she met me. We are inseparable. I love my girl so very much.
Bio:
Schatzie is a wild boar, standard wire haired dachshund. She will be 10 years old this coming may but does not look a day over 2 years old :D
