Arrival Story: I have wanted a Boxer again for a very long time. As a kid growing up that is all I have ever had and that is the only dog my family has ever owned for 3 generations. So I did some research and discovered Adopt a Boxer Rescue. Penny was my first foster. I thought it would be easy giving her up when they found her a home becasue I had set in my mind that I wanted a Fawn Boxer like my the one I had as a kid that I loved so much. I started falling in love with her as soon as I saw her jump out of the back of the car. A few weeks went by and the day before it was time to take her to our first adoption event, my friend was over with her dog and she says to me "How are you going to feel when you don't come home with her tomorrow night?" I got a little teary and sad and we didn't talk about it anymore. Then that night I called my rep at AABR and said I wanted to adopt her. I have now had her for 4 months and I cant image life without her. Penny is the name she had with the Rescue, and Dutchess is in memory of my Boxer I had as a kid.
Bio: We call her "Dozer" from time to time, becasue there has been a few times she has knocked me to my butt when playing. One time when in the park with a friend and her dog, we were talking and one of the few times Penny was actually playing with Otto and just not standing right by my side. My friend and I were talking about some work that had to get done in the park and out of the corer of my eye I see her fall down. Penny had run in between us and clipped her by the back of her knees and sent her on her backside. About 2 weeks later she did the same thing to me, we were chasing each other in the park and she came running at me and barreled into me and knocked me over. Which was my friends time to laugh at me after the other week. So we nicknamed her Dozer.
