Arrival Story: He's was our foster dog and we adopted him! He was unwanted as a young pup, probably because he was born with a lame leg and would need expensive surgery. He first was dumped in a shelter at 8 weeks old, then adopted, then returned. He sat in a cage without a family for 3 weeks. Finally, Ruff Riders Rescue saved him and we ended up fostering him at age 17 weeks. He and Piper are best buds.

Bio: Quincy had his leg amputated on Feb 15th 2005 at 4 months of age. We brought him home a week after his surgery on Feb 21st. He never had use of his other leg anyway so he's used to running around on 3 legs. Before he was 8 months old he had 3 surgeries on his lame leg. The third one was the charm and the surgery was done right. He moves around so much better without his stump. The new vet removed all of his shoulder. The first Vet only cut the leg and left the shoulder attatched. That seemed to have hindered him somehow. Because the bone was jagged and sharp, Quincy got the end of his bone to cut through the skin twice. Now he stands up straight and runs around with more ease and energy. It was an expensive surgery, but we think he's worth it. He's a very loving dog with tons of personality. He learns a lot from the other dogs. He see's them do something once and he picks it up. That's how he learned to walk on a leash.
