Arrival Story: I originally went to look for a dark-colored, bully-type breed when I stumbled upon Akida. When I first saw her she was being pestered by her kennel mate at the pound (Pima Animal Care Center) when she whipped around and in a sassy way and told the other dog to back off. She was also 'on sale' since she had been there for 2 months. She was well worth $20 :)
The first night I brought her home she howled outside for about 30 minutes and got all the other dogs in the neighborhood barking. I started to notice some strange traits about her that soon made me realize this dog was not what I planned. So I wanted a dog that would stick by my side, be low shedding, and likes to play fetch. HA! While she loves to be around people, all it takes is a open door... and shes off! But I can't get too angry because she always comes back... when she feels like it or when I bring out the ice cream ;) Low shedding? Yeah right. She clogs up my vacuum! And fetch? Not even the bit interested, ever. Instead, she wheres a leash everywhere that's not inclosed.
