Arrival Story:
Ari was our unplanned planned adoption. We were planning on adopting a dog sometime in the next year when my husband said he saw a great one listed on the shelter website. We decided to go and walk dogs at the shelter like we normally would that weekend. After we got done walking several dogs we didnt see her anywhere. SOOOOOO He ask where she was. They immediately handed us an application and were like fill this out, we will go get her. We were totally unprepaired to actually be adopting as we hadn't even ask the landlord yet....but being that we knew we wanted to adopt soonish we made a few calls and got everything approved. When they brought her to us she was a very sweet and timid. I was baffled how a dog with such a high energy breed could be so quiet. We tried to get her to play and she would't. She mainly just stood there she was housed with two other smaller younger dogs. Both were super cute and playful but she still wouldn't play. Then the shelter manager came over and told us her story..... ....Ari was raised by a family she knew. Once this family had kids they started to neglect Ari. She ended up uncared for and infested with fleas. The shelter manager ended up asking if she could take Ari to the shelter and find her a new home. Ari stayed with the shelter manager until a place opened up and thats when we found her. At the shelter after and before public hours she was allowed to run all around and greet the workers. She really is good with cats, kids guinea pigs you name it! Once we got Ari home and the sedatives wore off from her spay we started seeing her wonderful goofball personality. She is a couch potatoe all day but as soon as she sees your home it is her playtime. We recently bought a house and the Realtor knew it was important that the yard was perfect for her. As we say we bought our dog a house! It was exactly 1 year to the day we adopted her too!
