Likes: she loves to sleep on me with the other dogs (its a full bed) and to carry sticks around while prancing. she knows she is beautiful and expects everyone else to know it too.
Pet-Peeves: Josie is dominant already, even though she is still small, and is the boss over Aspasia, Glimmer, and Ping. (However, she has never tried to gain dominance over Schop.) So she dislikes to be argued with.
Favorite Toy: a foot long roll of rawhide, and her sticks which are longer than she is.
Favorite Food: dry dog food, she doesnt care for wet food and hasnt been allowed to try anything else yet.
Favorite Walk: So far walking/running around our yard.
Best Tricks: making my heart melt with her beautiful brown eyes.
Arrival Story: My 3 kids and I, a 6yr old, a 4yr old, and a 3mth old drove for 5 hours to get to the Airport in Denver on 102/18/05 pick up Josie who had flown flew to Denver from Iowa. Everything had gone really well on the ride to pick up our precious pooch and we were very happy to finally meet our new family member. Then it was time to drive the 5 hr. long drive home. We drove through sleet and snow, skidded in ice and then… our car died 2 hours away from home in Glenwood Canyon, on a dangerous curve far above the river. We waited for 5 hours while cars drove by us, including a state patrol officer, but no one stopped. Finally, in the middle of the night right after I fell asleep at last, I awoke to the most wonderful sight, flashing lights. A snow plow driver had stopped to see if he could help. He called my ex-husband to let him know what was going on, called a coworker who brought a tow truck, and waited with us until the truck arrived. The tow truck worker loaded our car on the back of his truck and then helped the kids, Josie and I pile into his cab. He towed our car as far as he was allowed, to a rest stop a few miles from Glenwood Springs. Another worker then waited for 1 ½ hrs. until my ex came to drive us home. While it was a stressful experience getting stuck, the Canyon workers were wonderful and Josie was well worth the trip.
Bio: Josie has fit into our family very quickly and easily. Even while stuck in our little car for HOURS, she remained sweet and calm. She at once became the dominant dog of the household, except for over Schopenhauer who still reigns supreme. She is working hard at getting potty trained and is probably the calmest puppy I’ve met. She has already learned which toys are OK to chew and which aren’t, and has a strong retrieving drive. Her parents are Jay Leno and Snowflake of Iowa. *update* Josie is now the proud mommy of 2 little black girls. they can be seen at www.ravenfeather-standard-poodles. com
