Arrival Story:
Juliet (then known as Christina) was surrendered to a high kill shelter in our area. Her picture popped up on the internet and eventually she became noticed by some Shiba rescuers, one of whom called in a huge favor to a local friend who called in ANOTHER favor to pull Juliet the night before her kill date. At that point, they began advertising around Shiba circles for a foster/adoptive family...and through several twists of the road, we became Juliet's "foster" family. We failed in the first three days.

Bio:
Not much is known about Juliet's history. She came into the shelter undernourished and with a tick infestation, but now she is healthy and happy!

Dear Person:

You left me.

You left me in a big place with lots of other dogs. I was just a little dog, not even one year old. I was skinny and itchy. The people there said I had ticks. Did you know that? You left me with some other dogs, but they were mean and scared people who wanted to see me.

I felt so alone. I was afraid.

I stayed there a long time. Someone took my sibling, but they didn't take me. The people said I didn't have much time left. I didn't know what they meant. I was just so scared.

But somebody saw my picture. And then somebody came and took me from the big place. They took care of me and gave me food. They made sure my ticks went away.

And then, Person, the best thing happened.

They brought me to my Mom and my Dad. They brought me HOME.

Did you know I now have a big brofur to play with and a chubby cat to steal food from? Did you know that I like to run around and play with everyone? Did you know that I love to snuggle up on the couch and watch tv?

Did you know that peanut butter is one of my most favorite things?

Person Who Left Me, I am loved now. I am important to someone now. LOTS of someones. And I'm learning each day that life is fun and exciting and full of good things.

My Mom is sometimes mad at you. That's because she loves me. My Dad doesn't even want to think about you because he can't imagine anyone leaving me. He says I have the biggest smile in the world. Did you know that?

I'm not mad at you, Person. If you hadn't left me, I wouldn't be home now. I wouldn't have this big house and yard. I wouldn't have all this love and fun. I wouldn't have my FAMILY.

So, this is the Puppy You Left, thanking you.
