Hey, Pups! Hope you're all enjoying a great summer!! For you Pups in the good ole U.S. of A. --HAPPY 4th of JULY!!! Be extra watchful for lots of BBQ this weekend! Mmmmmmm....BBQ!

This month we again have double bugginess, as we have had two very good nominations. First in was from BASIL , who nominated ANTS . Right on, little cuzzin! Who could resist the crunchy goodness of those six squirmy legs?***drool*** Our second nomination this month comes from BULLET , who in the spirit of the 4th of July nominated FIREFLIES . What better way to celebrate our independent right to eat bugs than to chomp down on a lovely lightening bug? Did you know that if you chew them at just the right moment, your tongue will glow? A little private pyrotechnic show right there in your mouth!! What could be better than that, BOL!! Thanks, guys, for your wonderful nominations. (August nominations are now open).

Please, everyone, keep showing your love and support for LITTLE BIT and her pack. She is a GREAT dog. We love you forever, Bit!

The Best Day Ever!

Hey Pups! Today I'm FOUR!! YAY me!! Even better!! Today is also my cousin Basil's and my good buddy Baxter's birthdays! What a cool day this will be!

Mom found a neat site to convert dog years to human years and vice versa. She found out that I would be 29 years old in human years. Basil would be 21 human years old. At her ripe old age, Mom would be an 11 year old dog, or 241 human years. HeeHee--much MUCH older than dirt!!

Oops!..........Wait!............MOM!......... I didn't mean that!!..........Honest!! (Especially since you haven't given me the rest of my birthday loot yet!!) She really doesn't look a day over 220, BOL!!

Wishing everydog a happy day. Have an extra cookie or treat to celebrate with us!!

June is Double BOTM time!

Hey Pups! Summer has really broken out here. Gotta love NE Ohio. Last week the furnace was running and it was cold and rainy. This week it has been in the upper 80's to 90's. Once again, I do not plan on being frisky until at least September, BOL! I can be found sprawled in front of the nearest fan, so don't even try to entice me with anything that squeaks, Mom. I will accept the occasional rawhide for diversion, but other than that, JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!

Since this is the "buggy" time of year, and since I've gotten such great suggestions for Bugs'O'The'Month from my pals, we're having a two-fer again this month. In alphabetical order, this month we're honoring June Bugs as suggested by my best little twin brother, Smokie. He tells me that they show up a month or so before June in his neck of the woods, and that they grow extra big in Texas!! That sounds extra yummy, little buddy!! They're so crunchilicious! Our second nominee was suggested by the ever- handsome Poncho. He suggested we honor Wasps because they're so good for getting us into trouble. Ain't that the truth? I only have to try to sniff one, and Mom goes crazy, and starts telling me, "Leave it!!" and "Drop it!!". It's fun to get the old gal all worked up like that, BOL! I'm not really sure if wasps are crunchy or not--the one time I got to eat one it was so "spicy" I couldn't tell!

Nominations are now open for the July BOTM. Until then, Pals, Happy Bug Crunching to all!!!

Hey Pups! In honor of being picked a Diary Central Pick of the Day ~~~~THANKS Dogster :)~~~~and for a little pre-Mother's Day surprise, I've decided to have another Bug pick this month. The winner is Japanese Beetle larvae (A.K.A. Grubs)!! You have to work a little to find have to smoosh your nose deep into the grass and pick them up with your front teeth, but they are worth it! And you'll be doing our gardening friends a favor by eliminating future plant destroyers! Win-win for everybody!
Eco-friendly Woofs and Wags,

Hey Pals! Happy Spring! Ain't it beee-yooo-teee-full?

As promised, I'm announcing the May 2006 Bug 'o' the month. Are you ready????
It's CENTIPEDES in honor of Basil's last month as an apartment dweller. These critters have inhabited all the apartments he's ever lived in, but now he'll be free of them. Basil and his pack are moving to their very own HOUSE with their very own YARD!! BOL--I already left some pmail for him in his front yard, just a little welcome home prezzie! Who knows what other wonderful treasures he'll find at his new place?

April Bug'O'The'Month

Yes, Pups, it's time to name the April 2006 Bug'O'The'Month!! This one is no surprise to the inhabitants of the Polish Ponderosa, believe you me. It is Asian Lady Beetles (again). I know, I know. Not very creative, since they were also the bug'o'the'month for November '05. But the little.....ahem....critters are simply EVERYWHERE here. They are still just as tasty and just as crunchy. It's like finding a little treat in EVERY room of the house!

Mom has been doing a lot of reading up on Catahoula Leopard Dogs lately, thanks to some helpful links sent to us by the very handsome CLINTON (Colorado de Oro) and his Mom. We were stunned when we saw Clinton's pictures, he looks like he could be a very close relative of mine. Maybe he and SMOKE and I are really triplets, BOL! At the very least, she hopes to be able to educate certain humans around here as to the breed characteristics of 'Houlas, so that certain humans around here might be a little more understanding and not put me down for being a plus-sized lady. All I have ever done is show my humans love, after all.

Until next time, Pals, keep crunchin' them bugs. I'm taking nominations for the May BOTM until April 30. Peace, love and happy Springtime to ALL!

Where the heck is SPRING???

Hi Pups!
I don't know what it's like in "your neck of the woods" (thanx, Al Roker!) but it's a good 10 degrees colder here than it's supposed to be every day. And Spring has officially arrived--the buzzards came back to Hinckley and the calendar says so and everything. So, c'mon! Warm up already!! I'm not saying it needs to zoom into the 90's, but the 50's would be a welcome change. (Are you listening, Al?) Especially since I had a bath a few days ago, and the ground is still all frozen hard!! :( Not a patch of mud ANYWHERE for a girl to enjoy herself in. I have to hurry and enjoy the mud and the messy ditches along the road where Mom and I walk, because as soon as the farmers start putting the chemicals on the fields, I won't be allowed to walk along the road any more until Fall. So HURRY UP, WARM WEATHER!!

Later, Pals!

One Year on Dogster!

Hey Pups!! AWROOOOOO! Today is my Dogster one year anniversary!! Yay, me. Kinda makes Mom teary-eyed (but then, MOST things make Mom teary-eyed any more) to think about all the good friends we've made in the past year. Forever friends. We've had a lot of fun with our Pals. There are certain diaries we check daily for updates, because we can always count on them for a giggle or two. It's always fun finding new Pals, and reading about their antics as well. There are Pals who have given us wonderful advice, and support, and friendship and we thank them sincerely with love. We have lost some Pals who have gone to the Rainbow Bridge, and we have learned to appreciate the strength our friends posess in the face of such deep sorrow. The daily friendship and general silliness here is unbeatable and has become an important part of our day, and we're happily looking forward to many more years and many more new Pals---for the love of Dog! May peace be with each and every one of you.

Thanks, Dogster.

My hairdresser will never tell!!

Hi Pups! Long time no bark!! I've made a New Year's resolution. I'm going to try going blonde for a while to see if blondes really do have more fun. Perky little pigtails are the best!!

In other news, It's been brought to my attention that I've been getting lax regarding the Bug'o'the Month. Very true!!! Life here at the Polish Ponderosa has been a little confusing ever since the holidays. But never fear!! The FEBRUARY Bug'o'the Month is~~~~~~~~~~SPIDERS!! There is a big wolf spider that has been teasing me all winter. It runs across the living room and down the stairs every few days or so. Just wait. He's SO gonna be worth the wait (crunch, crunch!).

HugsXXXXXand KissesOOOOO Skye, the Blondahoula!

Thanks, Dogster!

WOW! What a great surprise it was to find out I'm Dog of the Day today!! Thanks, Dogster! It's been so much fun already--hearing from old and new Pals! Mom says she couldn't have asked for a better birthday present for her and Dad (they share a birthdate--only Mom is MUCH younger, BOL)!! HAH! Mom, your birthday isn't for days yet!! As for me, I'll be getting extra chewies to celebrate. Mmmmm-chewies!! Just to help me celebrate, this strange bright ball has lit up the sky here today. Mom tells me it's the sun, but it's been so long since I've seen it I don't remember it. Plus, even though we don't have any snow right now (boo!) we have some very lovely mud in the yard and along side the road where we take our walks. Feels so good on my paws!! Good thing Mom got that new vacuum last year :)

Thanks again, everywoof! You sure have made this a special day for me! Woofs and Wags and special-good days to ALL!
