Leave a bone for Buddy - I've Been Adopted!

Nicknames:
Bud, Fella, Big Guy

Quick Bio:
-mutt

Likes:
He likes people and playing with other dogs.

Pet-Peeves:
His family lost him and hasn't found him yet!

Favorite Walk:
He seems to enjoy long walks in unfamiliar neighborhoods...

Best Tricks:
Leaping not-so-tall fences in a single bound!

Arrival Story:
Buddy just showed up in our yard last week, apparently after leaping over our 4-ft fence. I looked outside and he was cavorting in the snow with Charlie. I took him for a walk and knocked on doors in the neighborhood, but nobody seemed to recognize him. Due to his ability to jump our fence, I thought it best to take him to the shelter where I hoped his owners would look for him. I've also posted signs around town, but so far no one has claimed this lovely dog. I'd adopt him myself, if it weren't for that danged fence issue. Is there room in your heart and home for this friendly guy? NOTE: the breed, weight, and age info for Buddy are just best guesses!

Bio:
"Buddy" seems like he was well cared for before he got seperated from his family. He is friendly and sweet-tempered. I invited him inside, and he knew "sit" and "shake", and accepted a treat very gently from my hand. Then he just plopped down on the floor next to me and started to doze off! When we went for our walk (another word he knows) he didn't pull on the leash. This dog will be a wonderful companion for someone. Could it be you? If you live in SE Michigan and would like to know more about "Buddy", please call the shelter at the Huron Valley Humane Society. The number is 734-662-5585, and they're open from 12-6 daily. The id # for this dog is 100780. Thank you!

At last! I've been adopted! Thanks to all you wonderful humans who cared enough to read my diary and help me to find a new family to love. It feels great to be safe at home again. It's a good life!

What's a guy gotta do to get adopted around here?

Well, it's been a month since I came to the shelter. I just can't figure out why I haven't been adopted! I'm such a good boy, really! Smart, good-looking, obedient, personable, not too smelly. What's the problem?

I wish I could find a new mommy and/or daddy to scratch me behind the ears. That's all I ask, really. Well, that and a safe place to live and some chow. In return, I can offer absolute, unconditional love and devotion. It's a pretty good deal, if you ask me.

Say, if you're reading this and you think I'm cute, but you don't live close to my shelter, could you maybe email my diary to somebody who does? Or to somebody who knows somebody who does? I've heard about how the internet is a good way to reach a whole bunch of people. But you've gotta market yourself. I don't have thumbs, so I can't type. I'm counting on some nice people to read this and forward it to their friends and family. Help a fella out, folks! It's good for the soul!

I could be somebody's Very Best Buddy. I just need the chance.

In A Fix

Dear Diary,

Man, it's lonely here at the shelter. There are a whole bunch of dogs, but we don't get to run & jump together, we each have to stay in our own kennel. I like to run & jump.

Anyway, they had a doctor check me over and he says I'm doing fine. Except one thing needs to be "fixed", I'm not sure what that is all about. As far as I know, nothing is broken! He thought I looked about 5 years old, and he's right, I am a handsome young lad! So they've taken to calling me Buddy Jr.

Charlie's Mom comes by once in a while just to say hello and see how I'm doing. I wish I could just go home with her, but she is worried I'll jump over the fence like the day I met her. So she is trying to find someone with a really tall fence to take me home. In the meantime, at least it's warm here, and they have pretty good chow.

I still think a family would be the very best thing to have.
