Likes: Water...sit in it, swim in it, stick her head in it....

Pet-Peeves: Workmen coming on her property. Waiting for suppertime. People who say that their dogs are stupid or give them nicknames like Bonehead or Meathead (do you hear that, folks?). Anger... loud voices. People who dump their dogs anonymously at the pound.

Favorite Toy: Furry stuffed toys, especially the "shearling" ones.

Favorite Food: Gophers are especially good. Greenies. Innova kibble.

Favorite Walk: The beach.

Best Tricks: "Poodling" (sitting up); jumping onto or over anything (I've trained her out of this now). Maybe that's not a "good" trick.

Arrival Story: ***TILLY HAS A NEW HOME!! She had a couple of bad fights with Bonny, and it became clear that they could no longer occupy the same household. Tilly was adopted by someone with a five-acre ranchette and a smallish male dog, which is just perfect for her. I miss her more than I can say, but it had to be done. Dogs will break you heart one way or another.****The story... Tilly was put through a night drop at a high-kill shelter, at the approximate age of 10 months (a too-common age for dumping dogs). As a shy and traumatized dog, she was likely to be killed if left there, but a rescue volunteer took her in. I adopted her from her foster home (I'd found her on Petfinder.com while I was searching high and low for a rescue Aussie or Aussie cross). She was frightened of the entire world (especially men), but her fears lessen as time goes by. She is a happy, soft girl now. She gets a lot of confidence from her dog gang. Fear of strange men is still an issue, but we are working on it. (It would be easier if every deliveryman and repairman didn't decide that he was going to be the one to "cure" her! Every time that happens she moves back several steps in her training. Hint.) We brought Tilly home from rescue on a Saturday, and my husband worked hard to get her used to him (she was very shy of him, but not excessively fearful). But when he came home from work (now dressed in a suit and tie) the following Monday, she was absolutely terrified. Things improved a bit after he removed the tie and put on his weekend clothes, but she would still bark and run away from him after that. Over the course of that week, I had my husband repeatedly lie on the floor and I covered him in kibble. Even then Tilly would not approach until Pepper started scarfing up the food. (And Tilly will do anything for kibble!) I think her former (male) owner must have come home from work to discover that Tilly had destroyed something (she is a busy dog), and then dragged her, in anger, off to the pound. Probably after a beating. You have no idea how soft this dog is! She gets very small if voices are raised in anger. Overall, Tilly is a beautiful, smart, busy dog who just needed a chance to learn proper behavior. She is still learning, but improves daily. Please, when you have room and time for a dog or cat, check your local shelters and go online to search the rescue groups! Don't buy, don't breed, adopt! And don't tell yourself that you are "rescuing" an animal from a bad pet store (they are all just puppy mill outlets) or breeder. If you buy from them you are supporting and sanctioning their businesses.

Bio: ***Well, now Tilly lives with a rescued Puggle and some horses, on five acres in Nevada. I've left the following for sentimental reasons...*** Tilly lives on acreage with two other rescued dogs (herding breeds as well). She has proved to be a great ratter and gopher hunter. I think there might be some terrier in her background (Parson Russel?). She loves the swimming pool in all weather (there may be a drop of Labrador in her, too...she has these big, floppy feet that seem to be someone else's). She is always on the go. Update the first: Tilly has dug a hole in the hood of our car, in a effort to get the rat hiding in the engine. She actually dug into the metal! It's a $2000 fix. Anyone want a dog? Just joking. We still love her.
Update the second: Tilly has survived eating a poisonous mushroom (leading to two stays in intensive care...megabucks), being gored by a deer (another stay in intensive care and exploratory surgery...megabucks again), being bitten in the bottom by a coyote (got off with just sutures that time...only a few hundred bucks). The girl has nine lives. She gets better medical care than I do! I resent it only the tiniest bit. Yet another update: Tilly survived a rattlesnake bite, right on her nose. Antivenin costs $800, and then there was the stay in the ICU... I'm looking into health insurance for this pup! And still another update: Tilly chewed a hole in the floor of the gazebo to get at the rabbit that hides beneath the planks. She got too excited and ate the leg of the teak dining chair as well. She says it was the rabbit who did that. Hmmm.

My page is closed because we made the mistake of going into those forums. It was as horrible as being in the pound! Our boss lady is keeping these pages up -- unless Dogster HQ detetes them -- to promote animal rescue. When you have room for a dog, please go to the pound or a rescue group and save a dog.

So you know what? The two-legs went out and I jumped up on the counter to get the cinnamon rolls (I do love them), and there were these lovely fish-smelling things in bottles. And I do love fish (wag)! And it was a lot of work, but I got them open, and yum! It was so good (wag)! But the two legs was cross, and we all had to go to the vet. And now my back end is doing strange things and making noises (pfffft!) And we are eating different food we got from the vet, but I like it (wag). Oh, and the boss two-legs is making me sit in a cage a lot of the time, and I don't like that at all (ears down). She keeps wiping my bottom with a wet cloth, and changing my bedding. She gave me a bath, with soap (shudder)! So I guess I shouldn't have taken the fish things. Or jumped on the counter. But it was all so good (wag). I do my best, you know. I just forget. And Pepper said it was o.k. (head tilt). But then he ate my cinnamon rolls!
