Likes:
Her people, playing at the dog park, running off leash

Pet-Peeves:
She doesn't seem to have any :)

Favorite Toy:
She's not really into toys, she prefers to play with people.

Favorite Food:
Anything.. this kid is a garbage disposal!

Favorite Walk:
Anywhwere, anytime.. but she loves going to the kid park with the kids and, of course, the dog park

Best Tricks:
She likes to say "please" - it took us a long time to show her it was ok to bark on command. her previous owner would hit her for making noise :( So now it almost seems freeing for her and she gets so excited when we ask her to say please

Arrival Story:
Laysa lived in a plastic pet mate kennel outside the back door in the downstairs section of a two story duplex. My friend lived in the upper section and she'd had enough of the way Laysa's so-called owner was treating her. He left her locked in her kennel 18-20 hours a day letting her out only to eat most days. She developed anxiety towards any human interaction and would urinate when anyone would approach her, even if she was inside her kennel. On the rare occasion that she was allowed to come inside she would have accidents if someone would start to walk toward her so her "owner" would beat her, causing her to pee even more. :( Eventually he wouldn't even let her in the house. It was a freezing cold winter night when my friend finally told her "owner" that he needed to find her a new home immediately or she was taking her to the pound. He told my friend to take her but my friend knew this dog before she was the beaten and neglected mess she had become and she knew what a great animal she was. So, she called me and asked me if I would take her in. I went and picked her up immediately. Laysa was covered in urine. So much that when I pet her it felt like she had a waxy coating on her fur. It was so heartbreaking. I loaded her and her kennel up and brought her home. It didn't take long for her to see that her new life wouldn't be anything like her old one. She seemed to trust me almost immediately but it took a few months for her to realize my husband wasn't going to beat her or yell at her. She loved our children the second she laid eyes on them. Now she knows she's safe and loved. I think it's safe to say she's the best dog I've ever had. She knows we saved her and she shows her appreciation constantly. She's amazing :)
