Mom, dad, dog brothers, brother cat, sister cat, being rescued from my very sad life. I jump baby gates, or shimmy under them (mom/dad can't figure it out) to counter surf & then make my way back to share the bounty with my brothers, I'm a hit!
Mom and Dad trying to train me, the sores that were between my pads, but are going away, I have a bad habit of licking and chewing on my paws, and those darned cats!
The CATS!!!, my new brothers, and watching my Golden Retriever brother play catch and fetch. I don't think I was taught to play when I was a pup as I don't like toys.
Anything, seeing how I am under weight. So, far I am finding out that I like TREATS, green beans, bananas, strawberries, cantalope and having a good sociable chew on a bone with the boys.
The dog park and trails and running
Learning "no bark", come and all the new commands that I never knew before... Yeah, I know I'm 7, but who ever said, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" didn't know me.
Lets start with the fact that Murphy is a very expensive candy bar, that is why we originally stopped in at our local Humane Society... for a candy bar, not to get a dog.
It wasn't even visiting time, but the gate to the outside kennels was being repaired, so it was open, and there stood this big black dog, amongst all the cute little ones and the puppies, when we heard a deep low "oof" and just had to ask about him. After coming back, meeting him and looking into his soulful eyes, you could see he was "an old spirit" and we had to know more... once we did, there was no turning back.
His Bio: His first 7 yrs. of life he lived by "Murphy's Law"... if it can go wrong, it will go wrong, and it did. His owner, in his mid 40's passed away unexpectedly in his home, leaving Murphy and his companion mate to fend for themselves for a period of time. When this was discovered, the two dogs were seperated and it was learned from a neighbor that they were never taken outside to urinate or deficate, go for a walk, play, or live life.
Murphy came to us depressed, no playing, no tail wagging with seperation anxiety. And yet when it is "necessary", he comes to us and "oofs" when he needs to go out. After 1 1/2 months his beautiful tail now wags and is held high up over his back. We knew nothing of his breed, nor cared that he was a "pure breed", the only thing that mattered was to save this tattered soul, so he could live again.
