Birthday: November 6th 2007 Likes: LAUNDRY BASKETS!! he herds them. He is major toy aficionado, He LOVES learning TRICKS!! Pet-Peeves: Buddy dislikes most other dogs, but, he's working on it. Not all dogs, but most dogs. Favorite Toy: LAUNDRY BASKETS! and squeak toys, he lies on his back, holding a squeak toy in his paws, biting on it and sending himself into nirvana..... Favorite Food: My special "Liver cookies."--ask me for recipe, healthy, economical treats! Favorite Walk: RUNNING FREE OFF LEASH is his favorite walk, We are in the woods or in the lake allll the time. He is kept BUSY!! Best Tricks: HOW MUCH ROOM DO I HAVE? He knows 70 tricks!! BESIDES his agility--------- Card trick, barks for "Wanna Beer?", shakes head "NO!" to a joke, cross legs, spins, retrieve toys by name, finds & brings items to named person, too many to list!! Arrival Story: Buddy was in deathrow box at a dog pound, and we took him. He was total hot mess, emaciated bag of bones covered with matted stinky fur that felt like dried straw from malnourishment.------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- --------He was also covered in poop, and had such severe maroon colored urine burns, we thought he was a tri-color border collie til they faded out months later.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~
Buddy had blood and wounds, in all stages, some still oozing blood, all over him. He ducked when we caried anything like a broom or flashlight, which broke our hearts.(he doesn't NOW though)

It tooks weeks of frequent bathing to even reduce the stench on him.

We later discovered he was thrown out of nearby puppy mill, which was so horrific it made nat'l news when they shut it down after years of public complaints about it._______________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ _____
The dogs were kept in cages 24/7, not even let out for bathroom breaks. they lived in their own poop, in the dark, 24/7._____________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ ____________________ The cages were stacked one upon the other, in an unheated, zero air-conditioning, dark barn which flooded often, had mud floors, and had no electricity, and was pitch black even in the daytime.-------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ----------------------------
Most of the dogs had never ever seen daylight,and, like Buddy, they could not walk from years of being caged 24/7.

but, we thought, if that dog has a chance, his only chance is with us. NO ONE would take on a hot mess like that dog...still, i thought i saw something in his eye, way back there behind his gangsta glare....

So we brought the lil hot mess home, and he spent first month or two just glaring at us, and growling if we startled him, or got too close. We just smiled, told him it wasn't us, and tossed him treats a lot, as he tried to decide if we were ok or not. HE DID *NOT* LIKE HUMANS, AT ALL........nope, he didn't think much of our species at all back then.....

He'd never been inside a house before, the whole world was new to him.
OH, the stories i have, it was like a lil alien who just landed on earth....after living in dark cage all his life....the whole world had to be checked out...

We had our lil gangsta Buddy, for quite a while, til i ever saw his FIRST smile ever....i called the family to see, we didn't eveN realize his face could look like THAT!!

NOW he is LOVING, sweet, glorious, strong and proud border collie who is kept very busy!! He adores us to pieces, LOVES all humans now, he has totally changed his mind about humans and loves 'em all, and he is beautiful, gorgeous dog now, with muscles now!!! __________________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ ___
and he can run like the wind now. Dawg, does he laugh when he runs!! He'd never ran before in his life, he couldn't even walk very far when we met him.

I make sure almost every day, that Buddy gets a chance to run full speed and free. It is one of his big joys in life now---is running free. (Luckily he has recall like a razor)

He is an awesome perfect dog now, just so so so well behaved, we just adore him to bits. We are so proud of him we could bust.
