Birthday: October 1st 2010 Likes: Running, chasing, bugging old dogs Pet-Peeves: Birds, cats, that pesky dog in the mirror Favorite Toy: Frisbee Arrival Story: My husband called one evening and told me to come and get him and bring a towel. We found Shadow lying in a filthy, freezing garage. She was about 2 weeks old and he traded a days work to save her life. I spent the rest of the night coaxing her to live and 10 months later she is healthy, happy and one of my greatest joys. Bio: Shadows first year has been plagued by health problems. She was infested with parasites when I got her and had been unconcious for several hours when my husband found her. She is missing the tip of one ear and the other is damaged. She had a bacterial skin infection and a broken rib. She also had a UTI that took forever to clear up. At 8 months old she finally got her healthy and at 10 months the vet said she looked great. Shadow is a very special dog who requires very careful handling. Although she acts tough she is very timid and sensitive. She neither acts like a typical dog nor does she respond to common training methods. Although she has been a great challenge she is one of my greatest treasures. I am awed everyday by her will to survive and her joy in being her. In spite of everything she attacks life with an unequalled enthusiasum that makes me feel inferior. She truly is a gift and I am so grateful to have her in my life.
