Arrival Story: We had been considering adopting a second dog, male as we thought males would do better with our then only dog, Mabel. I had been looking online for awhile, we'd tried an adoption with one puppy named Bama, but it did not work out as he and Mabel did not get along. That ended our search for awhile. Eventually though the yearning returned and I looked online and found a few dogs at various shelters that sounded amazing. I decided to drive out to the farthest shelter (no idea why - I believe because the dog I had seen online was tugging at me the most). When I got there, and informed them I had an apartment, they cringed and said the dog I was there to see would not be a good match for me as he was extremely active. Then the owner lit up and said she thought she might have the perfect dog for me; he had just arrived that morning, they hadn't even taken his photo yet, but something told her he was mine. They had a meet and greet room and they brought him out to me. I fell instantly. He just had the goofiest ears and happiest face I had seen and this abundance of innocence (quite different personality to my first dog). Apparently he had just been brought down from a kill shelter in the bordering neighbor state that morning. He had been found wandering the streets alone. I, rashly and irresponsibly, listened to my heart and adopted him on the spot without consulting my partner (it was known I was looking, not that I was definitely adopting that day). Instead, I drove him home and surprised them with him. Mabel and he immediately clicked and once my partner got over the shock, was smitten as well. I knew he was indeed the perfect match. He's added loads of laughter and goofiness and adorable neuroticism to our family. He's obediant and eager to please, he's a good learner and has grown up to respect boundaries so much better. When he was younger, he had no concept of his size and wanted to be with you so much he would climb anywhere just to burrow into you. He is still a cuddler. There doesn't seem to be a bad bone in his body. He's just so damn easy to love and he loves everyone. He has his oddball quirks here and there that make him unique in so many special ways. Just thinking about him makes me light up with a chuckle. He's made our family complete.
