Arrival Story:
Fallon was rescued from hell on earth by an all breed rescue in her area. She was owned by a collector masquerading as a rescue. What is a collector, you may be asking? Some people collect salt&pepper shakers, some people collect spoons. Others collect dogs. The dogs at this place were divided by size. There was a "big dog room" and a "little dog room." Fallon is a petite young thing at approx 50 pounds, and was in the big dog room! As you may well imagine, she has some scars, both physically and emotionally to heal. Her physical scars are becoming less noticeable, as her coat fills is. Her emotional wounds are what we are working on. Despite her lack of socialization, having been in that place since birth, she is quite people oriented. She actually seems to prefer people to dogs. **Currently, when around other dogs, she has a do unto others BEFORE they do unto me attitude -it is just her fear until she learns that they are not all out to get her. We are helping her to learn that life isn't about survival of the fittest anymore. ** She has great ball drive, and will look for it when you hide it. She loves to play, now that she has learned how! She has learned to doggysmile too, which is a beautiful sight to behold! She is working on her commands. She does a beautiful sit, and will do so automatically. We are working on the rest of the commands, and her leash manners. Command-wise, she is making leaps and bounds of progress. She is very easily exciteable, and quite mouthy. She is learning that mouthing is unacceptable behavior, and will at times, redirect herself! The excitability is something we are working on also. Some dogs thrive on animation, and follow commands better from an animated handler. Fallon is the opposite. She thrives on low-key calmness.
