Arrival Story:
We were visiting the Orange County Animal Shelter on a daily basis, hoping our lost kitty cat would turn up. Each day we'd check the cat rooms first, then go look at the dogs. One day we saw this poor little white dog looking sad and dejected. Her ID tag said she was a dalmation/pit bull mix, but we weren't convinced of that. Day after day, we'd go to her cage, kneel down and talk softly and sweetly to her. She was the only dog in the place that wouldn't bark, and she shook like crazy when we were able to pet her. One day we came and she was gone. Our hearts sank, but we hoped she'd found a good home. Two weeks later we were still visiting the shelter when suddenly our little white friend was back. We knew then that we wanted her in our lives and didn't want her to slip away again!

Things Are Different

A lot can change in a week. My Mama, Papa and I are taking things very slowly after losing my brother and best friend, Boo. It all happened so quickly. One day he was fine. The next he wasn't. Mama and Papa had a very difficult decision to make, but it was the right one. Boo told me he didn't want to suffer or be in pain. He wouldn't admit to it, but I think he'd been in some discomfort for a while. Mama and Papa said the x-rays didn't look good at all.

That night Mama and Papa brought Boo back home and we all gave him lots of love and attention. We ordered pizza and all of us ate too much. We talked to him, kissed him and loved him all night long. We even went for a walk, although he didn't seem much up for it. He told me we would see each other again one day over the rainbow bridge. I miss him.

I think I have a new arch-nemesis. Papa keeps taking us by a house with a Bulldog. As soon as we get near the place, the thing starts barking at me! Oooooh, I just don't understand why it's so angry! So I bark back to show him who's boss!! But that only makes things worse. But today was funny because the Bulldog got yelled at by his Mama!! Sweet revenge!

This morning papa took us for a walk, like he always does every morning. As usual, papa put the halti on my snout because he doesn't trust me to behave when we see kitties and doggies in the neighborhood. I just can't control my excitement. I want to greet everyone! But sometimes I do get a little out of hand. Like this morning, I saw a kitty cat that looked a lot like my sister, Kira. Naturally I wanted to go say hi, but papa wouldn't let me. To papa's surprise, I was able to get out of my halti with my secret head snapping manuever. Luckily for papa, the halti has a secondary clip and I wasn't able to go running after the kitty to say hi.

But the big moment of the morning walk was passing by the house of my arch-nemesis, the bichon frise. There's even a sign on the house that says "This house protected by Bichon Security Systems." Ha! What a joke! If papa would let me, I'd certainly disable that security system!!
