Gotcha Date: August 13th 2011 Birthday: April 23rd 2011 Likes: Dad! Pet-Peeves: The Crate Favorite Toy: Bully sticks, cow toes Favorite Food: Blue Buffalo Large Breed Favorite Walk: Anywhere there are people to meet. Best Tricks: Sit,pouncing on everything! Arrival Story: After losing Turner we thought we could never have another dog, let alone a puppy. We started to "just look" and found some pups at a rescue. Went to see them a couple of times, but still wasn't sure. Went to Petfest 2011 and Grunt (formerly Marine) was in a pen with one of the original pups we were interested in. Grunt walked right up to hubby waggin his tail and smiling. Then he came over to me. I knew we were hooked from that moment on. Bio: Grunt and his siblings were the result of his momma being taken to a friends while her human was away. The friend "accidentially" let the female breed with her male pit. DUH!! We believe the pups were brought to Joyful Rescues over the Memorial Day weekend. As their names were all after the armed forces. Grunt's original name was Marine. We, of course, changed it to Grunt. Grunt is so steady in personality, he loves Darcy to pieces and has brought her personality out beyond her training. He's working his healing magic on hubby and I. Making the sun shine in our home again. We just love him! Forums Motto: WWGD or What Would Grunt Do? The Last Forum I Posted In: What do you keep your records in? I've Been On Dogster Since:
Mom took us for a walk early today. It's supposed to get pretty hot and she didn't want us to miss our walk. So we went down the driveway and to the right. There's more shade that way. We got around the bend to where there are some hunt camps. Me and Darcy were on the scent of something good in the weeds when mom noticed something moving. At first she thought it was a black lab. Then she realized, the movements were wrong. Then she saw another the same size and a bigger one.
Mom said, come on guys lets go see the horses and turned us around. Well alright. Little did we know it was 2 smaller bears, that were bigger than me and Darcy and an adult bear! :0 Mom knows the rules, leave, quietly and quickly. Especially when there are young ones!
So we walked down to the cemetary. I'm on high alert when we get there. Those silly chipmonks mess with me! I hear them chirping and once in a while I see one run! Uggg! If only!!
Now there are a bunch of fat rabbits around the house. They won't go into my playground so I can chase them! I stand on the deck and stare them down, I think they're laughing at me!
Mom took us for a walk today. Then she gave me a bath and then Darcy a bath. I was a bit nervous about walking into the shower. But mom walked in ahead of me and gave me a nudge. Once I got my first cookie I was good! Mom gives great massages during our baths! Once I was clean I went outside and had the zoomies! Big ol' pibble grins! :) Then it was Darcy's turn. I layed outside the bathroom quietly waiting for her. When she got done we both went outside for zoomies...
Then mom put my food into a container. She was counting off the days and adding a scoop of food to the container. Then she got my bully sticks in a bag and put them in with the food. Next came our cookies we each get a bag! Yippee!! It's getting closer. Vacation. I can feel it!
Mom talked to Aunt Jackie about another trainer that Aunt Jackie found for Bootes. Turns out they use e-collars for agility. Geez! Mom's trying to help her find someone who doesn't use e-collars in her area. She cannot believe how hard it is to find someone who doesn't do positive training.
Yup, found some flowers and I actually lifted my leg to pee on them! Mom was like hey, flowers - what a good boy! :) Mom and dad went to the Stinkfest today. They weren't gone long, but they did bring back some amazing smelling food! :) Mom talked to Aunt Jackie today. She took Bootes to his first puppy class. Aunt Jackie said that the instructor put a shock collar on Bootes! She was stunned! Bootes sat down, facing away from her at the fence with his head down. Aunt Jackie took the shock collar off and left immediately. Bootes is only 15 weeks for God's sake! Mom told her not to worry, if she needed any training that she would come visit and help her out - no problem! Bootes is doing good already! Aunt Jackie started his training, but wanted to take him to class to get motivated and maybe learn some new tricks. Not with a shock collar!
