 Quick Bio:
Likes: chewing on her brother's tail, getting dirty in the yard, tugging on things, stalking her brother when he has something she wants, and trying to get me to understand what she wants by barking and jumping and twirling around.

Pet-Peeves: Her little sister not wanting to play, not getting to eat her brothers dinner as well as hers, getting blow dried after bath time, not getting to sleep in the bed with me

Favorite Toy: her brother's tail, squeaky toys and sticks, also a little pink pig with ropes on it that was her sister Athena's toy until Kyra decided she liked it better than Athena did.

Favorite Food: anything she is not allowed to eat, cheese

Favorite Walk: At the barn with her cousins Chassis and Tator, anywhere she does not have to have a leash

Best Tricks: Wave, roll over, and sit pretty.

Arrival Story: It started with a small chihuahua named Athena. Then a large german shepherd named Alix joined the family. At the time we lived with 2 other dogs (a husky and a boxer mix), and 4 was plenty. Alix started doing agility and I really enjoyed it, but then he decided he was going to be 96 lbs, and I don't want him to put too much strain on his joints (also, he s kinda dopey...very intelligent, just a little unfocused at times), so I decided I wanted a dog that was well suited for agility, and also would be a good horse show dog. I did a bunch of research and decided on a border collie. Sadly, there was the problem of 4 dogs in the house, but luckily that resolved itself when we bought our new house. I found Kyra a month before we were scheduled to move, and brought her home 2 weeks before our move date. She settled in great, and was potty trained before we moved to the new house.

When I was little, my mom took me to a place called KETCH for some good old fashioned fun and learning. I learned about many things to get me ready for a career as a great agility dog. After almost a year of foundation and basic agility training, I am almost ready to compete, but that is a whole different story. About 2 months ago, my mom was talking to my teacher about my never ending energy (I am a border collie after all), and my teacher reccomended that I start attending flyball classes to give me another outlet for my energy. My mom was skeptical because she really wants me to be a good agility dog, and she didn't know if trying to teach me a new sport would confuse me (she doesn't realize that it is her that gets confused when changing sports not me). My teacher assured her I would be fine, and my mom signed me up. The next day I went to flyball class, and boy is it fun!!! I get to run as fast as I can and bounce on a box and grab a ball and run some more. Then my mom gets all excited and plays with me...it is great!!!
Flash forward to this weekend when I attended my first flyball tournament. I have only had 6 classes, and my mom didn't really thing I was ready to compete (she is such a worry wart), but she said I could go anyway. I got to this great big gym and there were so many dogs I didn't know what to do with myself. My flyball teacher was there, and my flyball buddies were there too. My teacher told my mom to bring me in the ring so I could practice, and boy did I show her what I could do. She was so worried that I wouldn't get the ball or that I would'nt make it over all the jumps, but I DID IT!!! I ran in 2 heats of one race and went so fast that the first heat we broke out (went under our seed time). The second heat my mom held me back longer, and we WON!!! I was so excited I barked and jumped and my mom hugged me. My teacher told my mom that I needed to work on my turns more, and that I would probably just practice the rest of the weekend, but I didn't care...I showed her I could do it!!! Flyball is great!!!
As an added bonus, I got promoted from the beginners class to the racers class, and I got a great certificate rom the tournament because I got enough points to receive m "Flyball Dog" title. My mom is so proud of me...she is on her way to get a frame for my certificate.
