Arrival Story:
We inherited Mona Boney Maroney when my stepdad passed away. Initially, we were just taking care of her but she was just so sweet, that it was just a natural for us to keep her! She became our Shih Tzu, Chelsea's, sister and playmate. My mom told us we could keep Mona because it was just too hard for her to raise Mona as she reminded her too much of her deceased husband...and, we totally understood.

Mona's name came from the the city where she was born, Ramona...Mom liked the 'Mona' part of the city's name and thought it was cute. When we adopted her into OUR family, we added the 'Boney Maroney' part because she would act like such a bonehead! tee-hee!

What am I?:
YES, I really am a Dachshund! Mona is what is called a Softwire. People often ask us, "What kind of dog is that? She's cute!" When we say, "Wire Hair Dachshund" they always say, "doesn't look like a wiener dog" but, you see, Softwires LOOK like this!
