I'm an alternate now

Well, brother Toby pulled a muscle and had to skip flyball class for a couple of weeks. I was invited to fill in for him, and I loved it. I didn't really know what the point of it all was, but I was happy to try. Any class that encourages barking is ok by me. I don't care what I'm doing, as long as I'm with my Mommy. Oh, and it doesn't hurt if she has a pocket full of treats, either.

Mr. Toad!!!

We have a HUGE toad that sits by the front door every night and catches bugs. He comes out after dark and sits behind Mommy's flower pot. I always look for him when I go out for my last potty of the night and try to make him hop. I would never try to eat him (or so my Mommy thinks), but I like to bat him in the butt to make him jump. I don't think Mr. Toad appreciates it, but I just can't help myself!

I love summertime!

I've just been too busy to keep up with my diary lately. I LOVE my nightly walks. Brother Toby and I have also been going to agility practice. Mommy says I'm doing well, but I have teeter issues. I'm terrified of the thing. At least now I can make it almost halfway across before I back down. Toby (that little showoff) has been doing great on the teeter since the first time he tried it. I really wanted to practice last week, but the Great Dane at practice broke the teeter before I could use it! Tomorrow night I'll give it a try again. I'm so good otherwise......if only I could get past this one obstacle.... I finished a Rally obedience class a few weeks ago, and I think I like that even more than agility. Mommy says that she'll take us to practice more often if the gas prices ever start going down (we have about a 60 mile drive one way). For now, we'll have to practice as much as we can at home. I don't care what we do as long as we can spend LOTS of time outside, because winter is just around the corner. For anyone who doesn't know it, our winters here are really long (it sometimes starts snowing in October, and it's not unusual to still have snow by Easter).

I'm trying Rally obedience...

Ok - Mommy thinks we need to try this Rally obedience thing. I'd rather do something that lets me RUN instead of heeling. I make Mommy so proud when we practice at home, but class is another story. I would rather sniff the signs (and the other dogs) than pay attention to what I'm supposed to be doing. I understand what I need to do. It's just that my class is only an hour a week, and that barely gives me enough time to socialize. I'd rather be doing AGILITY!

Summertime!

Wow - I haven't been keeping up with my diary. I guess summer is just too busy a time for me to be doing inside stuff. I tried an introductory agility class and loved it. Now Mommy practices with me at home and occasionally takes me to practice where all the fun equipment is set up. It's an hour and ten minute drive one-way, so I don't go as often as I would like to. Toby has been coming, too. That little stinker is braver than me! He'll run right over the teeter totter. I jump off every time it starts to move. I know what I'm supposed to do, but that movement spooks me. Toby has turned into such a bully. He steals every toy away from me. Our trainer said he's definitely the dominant one. I guess that's a nice way of putting it. I have some other words I'd rather call him.....but he's my brother and I love him! Gotta go - walk time!

Vet visit!

I had a metal plate taken out of my leg a few days ago. I broke my leg a while back by jumping off the porch, and had to have the plate put in while I healed. As soon as my leg was back to normal, the doctor wanted to cut me open again. Can you believe it? Anyway, he says it's better to take the plate out, so my little leg is all bandaged up again. At least the whole ordeal is almost done. I just miss my walks - being in the house is driving me (and my family) crazy. I can get a little stir-crazy if I don't get out. Also, little brother Toby misses our playtime together. I can't zoom throught the house with him for a little while, and he's SOOOO mad about it. Gotta go now - I have to help Toby with his diary entry.
