Arrival Story: I was outside working on a lawnmower and I looked up. When I did, I saw this young Labrador in the horse pasture. I continued working on the mower and next thing I knew, he was right there trying to help. His legs are deformed and he had no pupil in his left eye. He was blind in that eye. Someone dropped Lucky off.

Bio: Lucky was Pro Pac Dog Food's dog of the month in July of 08. Lucky also has a very heartwarming and interesting story. Lucky has survived adult heartworm treatment. He went completely blind right after the treatment. It broke our heart to see him have trouble going up and down the stairs on the front porch and back porch. So, we built him ramps with bumpers on each side. So, he won't fall off. Lucky also used to love to go to the pond and swim. When he went blind, we didn't want him taking the chance of getting hurt. So, we purchased him a stock tank that we fill with water. He has his own personal pool.
Lucky LOVES to fetch after a ball or rubber duck. Even after he went blind, he still will play for hours. When we throw the ball, we make a noise and he knows to go after it. He will use his nose to find it. He knows every inch of our property. Every tree etc.... If he gets to close to something, we tell him careful. He then will make a turn to avoid what ever is there.
Last year, Lucky ran a stick in his right eye. I took him to the vet. The vet suggested that we sew the lid closed to let the eye heal. I made the suggestion that we just remove the eye. Since he can't see with it anyway and he will just injure it in the future. The vet agreed. He has only one eye.
