Arrival Story:
My best friend and I went to the city animal shelter on a whim. She happened to spot this little chihuahua in the very back in the stray section. I almost passed her over because I didn't want a chihuahua, and I assumed I would be allergic to her. I'm severly allergic to dogs & there is only a couple of breeds I can tolerate. By some twist if fate I'm not allergic to her at all--miracle! My friend convinced me to visit with her after some, "Look at her! She's perfect!" commentary. It took her a bit to warm up to me outside in the visiting area, but once I picked her up...that was it. She cuddled into my arms and I was forever sold. I adopted her right then and there. I renamed her "Ella" after Ella Fitzgerald, one of my favorite jazz singers. It took her less than 24 hours to learn her new name. :)
Bio:
Ella was dropped off to the shelter, then adopted for 2 weeks, then taken back to the shelter, and now adopted by me. I don't know what happened before that. It doesn't matter much anymore though since she seems very happy here. She and my 6 year old 4lb yorkie named Coco are practically attached at the hip. I've got my work cut out for me with her because no one ever taught her anything. She didn't know how to properly walk on a leash, use stairs, play, "sit", "come here" or socialize with a variety of animals, people & circumstances. She's gotten a lot better through all our efforts. Her confidence is slowly increasing.
