Arrival Story:
Ciara's a rescue from the wonderful Col. Potter Cairn Rescue, which is available online. She was a breeder dog for all of her life, and although she had a name (not the one she currently has), she wasn't really a pet. So she wasn't walked for the first five years of her life, and (I'm guessing) probably only was confined to a small run, rather than dealing with being put on a leash. So she came to me all quivery and scared, and climbed into the lowest empty shelf of a bookcase and tried to hide. We got her out with some love and treats and belly rubs, and now she'll follow me anywhere -- but needs extra coaxing when it's time to go out and do her business.
