Arrival Story: It had been about 3 weeks since our family's beloved Golden Retriever Maddy had past when we decided to make a quick stop into Petco to buy some crickets for our Gecko. It was there that I saw a cute little black and tan ball sleeping in the corner of the pen while the other puppies all played. When I asked about him one of the rescue ladies told me that that one puppy in the back had come in with his litter a few months back and he was the only one left. He was reaching 5 months and very few people noticed him. And that was all we needed to know, he was ours.
Bio: He wasn't like normal puppies. He spent most of his days asleep next to me. He never chewed and rarely played. He had the worst case of separation anxiety I've ever seen in a dog. If I was out of his sight for a split second he'd go into a meltdown. And when it came to other people (especially men) forget about it. We had him 5 months before he'd even let my brother be in the same room as him.
But with time, patients and lots of love, things began to change. He developed a love for water and swimming in the local lake. He enjoys snow more than any dog I've ever seen. He even learned to trust more humans. It's been an interesting road with Chopper but a wonderful one.
