Nana enjoys licking small children, munching on pencils (and will take them out of your hand), mud, any body of water from water bowl to oceans, 'helping' you put on your shoes, and trying to convince our little dogs and Owen the Cat that she's awesome

Pet-Peeves:
Going into dark rooms, bedtime, and having to come in from outside after playing.

Kong

Nana eats whatever you offer. Everything is the bee's knees.

'Lay down' and 'sleep' and 'snore'. She even does them without being told!

Arrival Story:
Nana was being offered for adoption with a local rescue who was holding a 'adoption day' a pet store near our home. I was in love from first sight - I wasn't even going for the adoption day, I just needed dog food! But there she was like magic. All kinds of people were milling around her, just in awe about her size and markings and temperament. There was a lady there that wanted to adopt her, but was having a hard time making the decision. A voice out of no where yelled, 'I'll take her if you can't!' And then I realized that was MY voice. Ooooo, big trouble. The lady decided she wasn't going to take her and handed the leash to me. Remember - I was only there to buy dog food. So I called my husband who said 'absolutely NOT!' That's why we call him the Dream Killer. I had to hand the lease back. The first lady took it as a sign that she needed to adopt her, so she went ahead an took her. I was crushed. Since I like to torture myself, a few months later, I decided to poke around one of the rescue site, knowing there was no reason in the world for us to get another dog . . . and there she was! The lady who ended up adopting her that day GAVE HER BACK TO THE RESCUE!! She had decided that Nana (or Sara as she was then known) was just too much dog to handle and brought her back after about six weeks. I jumped on the phone, called the rescue, and arranged to come see her the next weekend. That gave me a week to work on the husband. It took begging, pleading, promising, and a little crying, but the husband finally gave his OK. The following Saturday, she was ours!! And she became Nana. Nana is ABSOLUTELY way too much dog - she's huge and awkward, sheds like no other, chewed a hole in my couch, knocks stuff down, spills everyone's drinks, has broken the window in our dining room twice trying to say 'hi' to a neighbor hood friend, flips up every rug, drives our little dogs crazy, tries to lick the cat, drinks out of the toilet until there is no water left in the bowl, wakes me up every night like a baby to go potty, broke the motor in my electric widow on the passenger side of my Jeep from resting her fat head on the edge of the window while riding, ripped a hole in the 'indestructible' pool cover at my parent's house, is constantly doing the 'Scooby-Doo' run on my hardwood floors and sliding across the room, steals pencils OUT OF MY DAUGHTER'S HAND while she's doing her homework . . . and she's perfect.
