Arrival Story: I am currently Peggy's foster mom. She is a joy to have.
Bio: Peggy was found as a 6 week old puppy. She has been in the Pineywoods Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) for the last two years.
Sadly, Peggy's original foster did not care for her appropriately. She was placed in a kennel and only let out to eat and potty. She went to a second foster, and had (past tense) serious social issues when she got there. That foster had a 12 year old son who took Peggy on as his personal project. Thanks to this little boy, Peggy learned to love and be loved. Now she is friendly, loving, fun, perfect in the house, housebroken, and a kids dog to boot. I have her now because that foster was becoming too attached, and couldn't keep her. So she is with me.
Peggy is literally the perfect house dog. She has a great "off" switch in the home, loves to lounge and look pretty in the living room, and is really beatiful. She also ADORES kids. I mean, she sees a little person and her butt starts wiggling like she can't hold it in. And she is soooo gentle, she just wiggles her way up to a kid and lets them love her. She really, REALLY needs a kid of her own.
She is great off-lead and checks in frequently when she's sniffing around. She loves to go for walks, but isn't one to dart down the road if the door is left open. She would make a great jogging companion because she loves to go for walks and jogs, and is very sensitive to a lead (doesn't pull), but she's calm enough that it isn't a big deal if she has to skip a day or two.
Peggy is also protector of the home. A man recently came into our house to pick up something while we were gone to work. Not knowing him, Peggy made sure he understood that he would not be entering our home. And he didn't, she terrified him. However, he came over later and after she noticed me letting him in the door, she walked up to him with a wiggly butt. She reacted perfectly!
If you are looking for a perfect all-around family dog. Peggy is your girl! I can't explain how wonderful she is! She is so kind, gentle, sensitive, friendly, and loyal. She's also housebroken, 100% cat safe, and kid-loving. She needs a home, she's been in PAWS far too long.
