Arrival Story:
Libby came to me as a Momma with 9 one day old pups. I had just lost my beloved Golden Retriever 4 months earlier and hoped this "terrier who needs a foster" would distract me from my grief. When I went to pick her up, there was the smallest little lab with soooo many puppies. She was an outstanding Momma but was severely underweight and riddled with Demodex mange. She had been found in the bucket of a dump truck type vehicle about to give birth in the freezing cold. I indeed turned her back into the rescue after about 5 weeks. I would pop up to say "Hi" almost daily and after about the 4th visit, she was so saddened that I would leave that she refused to look at me. My family went on a week long vacation and when we returned I again stopped up to see if that sweet little girl had been adopted. She had an application pending but the potential adopter was not a good candidate for a high energy dog (due to safety/health concerns) and after the staff talked to the applicant the lady soon agreed another dog was a better match. I went to Libby's kennel (who still was very disgusted with me for leaving her), took her to the "real room" and asked her if she wanted to be my forever dog and promised her I would NEVER leave her again. She came home with me and happily trotted to the side door but was thrilled when she was allowed to come into the front part of the house. She has been snuggling with me and loving me (as I her) every day since. She has also acted as an alert dog for her doggie brother who has a seizure disorder, fostered many a pup and just been an all around great addition to our family!
