Dakota is a stray that showed up at our house in the middle of the night. We live way out in the country, and it's not uncommon for strays to show up at our house. He's very thin, and shows signs of possibly being abused...he cowers whenever we go to pet him. We'll be taking him to the vet April 25, 2011. My daughter has been reading about Huskies, and we know it may take some time for Dakota to get used to us and trust us, but we are going to show him lots of love and patience, and take care of him.

My new family came home Easter Sunday afternoon to find I had made my journey to the rainbow bridge. They were all shocked, as they thought I was doing better since I had been playing more, and had even started eating a bit more. The mom feels guilty...is blaming herself for not taking me to the vet when I first showed up at their house.......

My name is Dakota. Well, at least that's what the family I'm living with now is calling me. I showed up on their property in the wee hours of April 18th. I woke everyone up rearranging the patio furniture on their back porch. The next morning the humans came out and gave me some food and water. Later on the mom and her daughter came out and played with me. I showed them how I could catch a tennis ball in my mouth...sometimes. They're very nice to me here, and I think they want me to stay. I heard them say something about going to see the vet on Monday. I sure hope they don't leave me there, because I really do like it here. I'll keep you all updated....
