FYI: STATE DOG OF MARYLAND:
The Chesapeake Bay Retriever was declared the official state dog in 1964. It is named after the famous bay region of the breed's origin. The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is one of only several breeds actually developed in America. Retrievers are working dogs, bred to recover waterfowl for hunters. They excel in both field and obedience trails, and are known for their strength, versatility, endurance and devotion. They also work as service dogs for the drug enforcement agencies, and search and rescue work, as well as avalanche and sled dogs.
Thank you Dogster for choosing Bebe to be the Dog of The Day. I think it is so wonderfull that you are recognizing our Rainbow Bridge friends. They should never ever be forgotten, they will be with us forever in spirit, & their families hearts.
So many have passed away from Cancer, heart problems & worst of all animal abuse. This last reason is totally inexcusable, & should never be allowed to happen.
WE MISS YOU VERY MUCH, WISH YOU HAPPY THOUGHTS EVERY DAY.
Dear Bebe;
On May 10th, 2003 you crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We knew you needed to go, it was so hard to see you go. We know you aren't suffering anymore. We hope that you have tons of friends to keep you company.
We have Raiko with us, to help fill the void you left. We realize she isn't you, she will never totally fill your "shoes." You were the calm, laid back lady, that didn't let much of anything ruffle you.
Raiko, so far just doesn't quite get it, as the saying goes. You need to somehow give her a sign on how to just "chill out!" She makes Dad's & my life pretty stressful at times. We love her, as much as we loved you.
XOXOXO Mom & Dad
When Bebe came into our lives, she loved to push our buttons, so to speak. The first thing she did as a puppy was to totally eat an envelope that contained the first payment for our new car. We frantically looked all over for it, couldn't find it anywhere. We phoned the financial instituation, they just chuckled. Told us to NOT punish the little puppy, & just send another check. They sent her a "doggy" bag with all sorts of treats in it.
The next thing this young lady did was chew the right toe out of my husbands brand new expensive dress shoes. The sales person just replaced them, telling us to feed her more often. At this same period of time she chewed a cell phone to the point that it had to be tossed out, chewed the remote control for a TV, & consumed a whole chicken carcus that had been tossed into the garbage. Lets see, she also chewed the leather arm rests in a mini van that we had just purchased. She would get bored, this was her way to draw attention, she thought she was just being cute! This was all done by the time she was 10 months old. She finally out grew these antics by the time she was 4.
Her "sister" Raiko is somehow learning Bebe's bad habits. We wonder at times if her mischievous spirit is guiding Raiko.
She gets into so much mischief, snitches papers, off the table,
