Arrival Story:
I lost my previous Border Collie, Levi, in July. I couldn't stand being without a dog. I started looking at the Border Collie Rescues to find another pup. Every dog I was interested in had a waiting list a mile long...good for them, sad for me! Then, I was contacted by a member of the Midwest Border Collie Rescue who asked if I would be interested in Bingo. She told me his sad story: he was four years old, and his family had lost interest in him. He had been banished to the back yard and ignored. For fun, Bingo would chew through the wood fence and escape. Animal control picked him up and when the family was contacted, the AC was told that they no longer wanted him. He would be euthanized. A rescuer found out, and pulled him out of the AC. However, there was no foster home immediately available for him. They evaluated him and found he was a great dog, and when I agreed to take him, he was transported to my front door! I took him, site unseen! He is happy and spoiled--he deserves it!

Bio:
Bingo used to love the off leash dog parks. He used to be good with other dogs until he was attacked by another dog at the Middleton Dog Park. Now we only go on leash walking. Bing loves people, and has come a long way with our cats. The first day he was here, he would lunge and snap at the cats! Now, he and the cats can sit on the couch together! Of course, the love of the chase always comes in to play at some point! Bingo passed his herding instinct test and did a GREAT job!Also...Bingo is a canine blood donor! May 2007...Bingo underwent a left front leg amputation due to a soft tissue sarcoma. I was shocked. We dealt. He had the surgery and I was told he was "cured". Ok, so I can deal with a tri-paw....I still have my buddy. Things would be good. A short 3-weeks later, I took him to the vet because a friend was petting him and noticed his glands were swollen. They took an aspirate and two days later the pathology report came back as lymphoma. I am devastated. I'm researching our options...leaning toward chemo to give us more time together. October 2007: We finished the 19 week protocol...Bing did great! We had a few bad days, but the good out numbered those by far! Bing went into remission after the second treatment. However, two weeks after the protocol finished, Bing was diagnosed with a third cancer! Even our vet thinks this is unbelieveable!! They now believe he has adenocarcinoma. This tumor is affecting his prostate and bladder. There is nothing more they can do for my sweet, gentle boy. My heart is broken. He has been SUCH a little fighter and no matter what I've put before him, he's tackled and conquered with a sparkle in his eye and a goofy grin on his face. He is my hero! February 18, 2008. My brave sweet boy has earned his Angel's Wings. Run free, my gentle soul! Chase those sheep!
