Arrival Story: Silver is a 5-6 month old pup whose entire family was turned into the shelter together. Mom was a Border Collie and dad was a Red Heeler. Half the puppies looked like Border Collies and the other half resembled an ACD – but not a red one! In fact, the ACD pups look more like Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dogs because they don’t have any brown on them at all. (We’re not sure what mom was up to in her spare time!)
Bio: Silver is a handsome young man who had a rough start. The entire family lacked human socialization so Silver is timid at first. He is much more confident around dogs and really takes their lead. In his foster home, he spends most of his time with 2 older male dogs.
In fact, male energy seems to be his preference. He is more comfortable around his foster dad than his foster mom – a first for this foster family! Silver loves to run with the other dogs as they chase Frisbees and balls but he doesn’t catch anything. He enjoys “covering” the dogs who are chasing. Check out his video to see him in action.
Because Silver is timid with people and comfortable around dogs we think a home with another dog might be best. It will ease his transition. But if you have experience with shy or under socialized dogs and don’t have another dog, we will definitely consider your application.
Silver is up to date on all shots but has not yet been neutered because of his age. We require a spay/neuter deposit that will be returned upon proof of his being neutered.
If you are looking for a sweet pup to, please submit an application at acdra.org for Silver. He is being fostered in Bucks County, PA.
