Pet-Peeves: strangers in the house, especially kids
Favorite Toy: Paper, Paper, Paper!
Favorite Nap Spot: on the bed with his mom
Favorite Food: dry cat food, especially when you open a new bag
Skills: he can catch and throw a paper ball pretty well.
Arrival Story: We had just lost our cat of 12+ yrs and called the humane society and they had nothing but feral cats...then we called the vets office and said we wanted a cat..they hmmmm hahd until I said we were looking for 2-3 cats. They had found Phantom with Patches (see her page as well) and didn't want to separate them. They were right. They loved each other and were inseparable.
About me: I am a momma's boy...I love my mom and my dad. I love to be picked up and held and will immediately turn on my purr for that. I don't talk much but I do say "MOM". I'm a very sweet, loving cat and will cuddle and butt heads with mom or dad all day.
Playing: My favorite toy is paper. Sometimes mom and dad will wad up a paper ball for me to bat around, other times, just leave the newspaper stretched out for me to run and slide on...especially in the middle of the night.
Activities: I'm not into birds and squirrels much. Patches was the hunter and liked to watch that. Mom and dad will hold me so I can see them but I would just as soon have a nice sun puddle for a good nap!

Thanks to all our friends that sent us gifts for our Gotcha Day. We didn't get notifications and didn't realize how many we had. Thank you all for continuing to think of us.
Hard to believe 17 years ago that mom and dad, after working with our local rescue, came and picked us up. They handed mom Patches first and said here is a little Calico that doesn't purr much. Patches stayed that way until the end of her life. You had to work hard to earn her purr. Then they came out with a little gray ball of fur that was purring. ME! I've always been an easy going guy who does purr alot. I have a great forever home and I'm lucky to now have Spice with me and all my friends.
So many of us know and love Smiley Cassanova. He's been there through good and bad for us and helped so much. Smiley is very ill and needs all the purrs, prayers, thoughts and power of the paw we can give.
Here is his page
Please stop by and offer the kind of support to him and his mom that he has given to all of us.
*wipes tears away and purrs hard for his good buddy*
Mom wanted to wait to write this entry until she knew things were going to be OK. Two weeks ago mom took me to the vet because I had turned down my treats the night before and I NEVER turn down treats. And I wasn't acting like I felt good.
Later that day the vet called and told mom that I had kidney disease. Mom was shocked. See, we lost Patches to kideny disease just two years ago. The vet wanted to keep me at the hospital over the weekend and give me IV fluids. She wanted to treat this aggressively as she felt it was very early kidney disease and a lot could be done to stablize me.
I came home on Monday, 2/24 to Spice hissing at me. I slept a lot for a few days. They said I was comfortable and resting well, but who ever rests well at the vet?
So I was eating only a little bit at a time so I was getting fed about 6 times a day. Mom was gettig up a couple of times in the middle of the night to make sure I ate.
I went back this past Monday for a follow up. The vet says I'm stable and to continue on with the meds and the kidney diet and she will see me in 30 days. Mom hopes the meds will help get my numbers down too.
I am playing like I was before, running with Spice, playing with toys, sleeping with mom and acting "normal" for me, so mom feels good we are on the right path. She would still like me to gain more weight but as long as I'm not losing, she figures that is still a good sign too.
Thanks to all my friends for the PoP and purrs and prayers. Both mom and I appreciate our friends here and that is just another reason why we love Catster so much.......such support!
