My Wobblers update, might not get totally healed

Mom and Dad talked to my doctor this morning and the news isn't what I was hoping for. While I've made significant improvements with the gold bead implants, I'm not to "normal" and the doctor fears the cord damage may be beyond repair. He's ordered some Prednizone for me to take in an effort to reduce swelling in my neck to see if that will alleviate some of the issues and allow the beads to work better. I should have the meds in the mail in a day or two. Mom asked if since I'm not healed 100% if that means I'm going to be paralyzed eventually. He believes we should be able to stabilize where I'm at and not get to the point of paralyzation, so that's what we're praying for. Mom and me are a little scared. We were really hoping we were going to be in the 75% totally healed success rate category. But I'll take it if I can remain where I'm at and not become paralyzed. I think Destiny can tell I'm worried cause she's been laying next to me and laying her head across my legs. I love my sissy.

Boring

I hate to say it, but it's been pretty boring around our house lately. Some would say that's a good thing, almost like no news is good news. It's just been so darn hot every single day like it has been across the country...temps in the 90's, heat indexes in the 100's. It's SO humid here. Whew, too stinkin' hot for us pups to be outside. So we wander around in the house lookin' for stuff to do but all the fun stuff gets us in trouble. Oh, but there was a little excitement today. Destiny and I were watching Mom out the window when she went out on the back deck and went to the grill and opened the doors below it to get something out and woosh, she was attacked by hornets! I never saw Mom move so fast! She didn't get stung but it was a funny sight seeing her run back into the house batting her arms around. I don't want anything to do with those nasty flying things! So that was my excitement for the day. Hhmm, doin' nothin' sort of made me tired....

Embarrassing Moment

Wow, my sissy Destiny has a big mouth! Mom said Destiny told everyone I had an embarrassing experience at the vet today. Well, what would you do if you had someone poking you back there? I thought "is this what you're trying to get me to do?" so, I let loose. Found out that's not what she was trying to get me to do! Good thing the doctor had a paper towl so she was able to catch it! :) Mom, my human brother, the vets helper, everyone was holding their nose and making all kinds of funny noises. What?? It doesn't smell THAT bad. I guess they thought so cause they got out the air freshener and started spraying the room down. I guess that'll teach her not to poke me anymore...mission accomplished! BOL!

That's enough of that. Mom's getting ready to go get us some of our Pawfect Peanut Butter treats...gotta run!

More beads to combat my Wobblers

Alarm sounds, 4:30 a.m., check, Mom gets ready and wakes up my human brother, check, Mom comes downstairs and lets me out, check, Mom gets my food bowl ready with food, negative. What? Where's my food Mom? I'm a starving little girl in the morning, even if it is still dark outside. Then Mom reminds me it's Thursday and I have to go back to the doctor to add gold beads in my neck to try and eliminate the last of the Wobblers symptoms I've been having.

So we load into the car and head out for our drive. My belly's growlin and I can't possibly go to sleep just thinkin about going to the doctor. Even though I know the acupuncture doesn't hurt, I'd rather be home. Anyway, we get to the office and the doctor tells Mom he can tell there's an area in my neck that isn't right and requires more of the therapy. Then the doctor tries to take me to the back. I tuck my stub and try to tell him I'd rather not go and want to stay with my humans but he grabs my harness and off we go to the wild blue yonder. Then I hear the doctor tell Mom to come back in an hour and a half to get me. What? Really? No five hour ordeal with anesthesia and shaving my neck and a big neck brace? Nope, not this time, not just to add additional beads. Yea, we're all pretty happy cause with the heat indexes well over 100 here, wearin another brace for a month would have been a little too hot to handle. And I didn't have to get buzzed either! I still have all my neck hair, yea!!! It's not all grown in yet, but it's gettin there so I was glad to hear I wasn't going to lose it.

Let's fast-forward to when Mom comes back to get me...1 1/2 hours on the nose. I got a little nervous being in a cage, not knowin where I was at, so when the nurse got me to bring me to Mom, I piddled. Don't laugh pals, not just on the floor but on my legs and some on my belly. Mom had just given me a bath the day before anticipating the neck brace so she wanted me to be clean since you can't be around water with the brace. So I was a little stinky getting in the car. But guess what. Since I wasn't put way under with medicine (which meant I could eat) and hadn't had breakfast, I was hungry. When Mom and brother stopped to grab an early lunch, they got me a hamburger and bowl of water! My first ever. Yea, I've had ice cream at the drive thru, but never a burger. That was great I must say. That even made up for the fact that I had to have a mini bath in the yard when I got home.

So that's my story for the day. Now we're back to having my pawrents watch my every move and see if I'm making progress. They have to call the doctor in a week to talk to him. It's been a long day already. All the way up and all the way home while I laid down in the backseat, I did not lay my head down at all and I haven't napped much since I've been home so I'm a little, yyyaaawwwnnn, sleepy. This seems like a great time to curl up in my bed and g o t o s l e e p

Back to the doctor

Mom called my doctor this morning and they agreed to have an additional gold bead implant procedure done since I haven't made a total recovery yet and had a little issue with my back left leg a week ago. So on Thursday, looks like I'll have my neck shaved again and another brace on my neck for a few weeks. Just when my hair was really starting to come back in, poof, it'll be gone again! Or should I say bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, it'll be gone again!!

Can you believe it?!

That's right pals, I was lucky enough to be picked as a DDP today! Yippee! Mom's been showering me with hugs already and Destiny tried to give me a high paw clap but we couldn't seem to make it work...she went high, I went low. Anyway, that's a great way to start my day.

I need to file a complaint on my pawrents. Last night, my dinner was 4 hours late. Can you believe making me and Destiny wait THAT long to eat? Not only was our dinner late but the whole family left us yesterday to go to some kind of wedding or something. When they got home, they were talking about how much fun they had and they danced and had a great dinner. Dinner? Really? Glad to hear someone had a great dinner while we were sitting around the house famished and wondering if we were ever going to eat again. But when they got home, they did apologize and made sure to feed us right away. Ok, we'll let it slide this time, but I'd like to stay on my schedule please!

It's a hot and humid one again here today. Mom and I are going to take a short walk in a few minutes, before it gets too hot outside. I'm anxious for Mom to call my doctor tomorrow. He should be back from vacation so we should know if I'll be going back sometime this week. That's enough for now, time for my short morning nap...

My Wobblers is still around

Mom's been pretty upset lately and I think it has something to do with my Wobblers disease. A couple of days ago when I got up from laying in the kitchen, one of my back legs wasn't working very well. It only lasted for about a minute, but then it happened again the next day. Again, only for a short time, but it shouldn't be happening at all. Mom called my doctor this morning because he talked about wanting to put some more gold beads in my neck. Well it stinks for me because he's apparently out of town all week. Looks like I won't be having another procedure done this week afterall. Sure hope he'll have enough time to squeeze me in next week. I bet he'll be busy just getting back from vacation. But we'll have to wait and see when we give him a call next Monday. I was hoping my progress would continue to get better and hate having this set back. I'm anxious to get more gold beads because I know they've worked but just not all the way yet. Oh well, the saga continues.

Not much goin' on

Well pups, I think I'm on my way back to feeling a little better. My tummy's on the mend. Must be from the yogurt and cottage cheese and other food Mom's been feeding me instead of my dog food. Not sure how I'm going to feel going back to my dog food tonight. Maybe I'll turn up my nose and see if she'll add a little yogurt. Yea, it's easy to get spoiled isn't it.

Some of my pals have been writing about the great adventures they've been having. Sounds like so much fun that I'm a little jealous. My greatest adventure lately has been watching the family play corn hole and picking up some of the beanie bags and carrying them away. My rule is, if they don't hit the board then they were throwing them for me to fetch! Dad doesn't think so though, he keeps yelling 'no'. Jeez Dad, just spoil all my fun.

Right now, me and Destiny are laying out in the yard with Mom. Destiny's on the blanket with Mom. What, are you afraid of a few bugs? Spiders? Ok, yea, spiders freak me out just a little too.

Upset belly

Yesterday, I was out in the yard all day with Dad and think I might have maybe eaten something that upset my belly. Last night when everyone was in bed, I got sick. It was one big mess when Mom and Dad got up this morning. Nobody knew I needed to go out in the middle of the night because I was quiet about it, but it sure smelled up the place after! Mom and Dad had a lot of cleaning to do this morning and after they let me outside, they put me and my bed in a room by myself for awhile in case I had any other accidents. I was lonely in there by myself. They kept coming by to pet me and see if I was doing ok and take me outside though. I'm starting to feel a little better now. Mom made me rice for dinner and that tasted good and was gentle on my stomach. Destiny was lucky today though. Mom took her to go get ice cream. I know because I smelled it on her when she got home. That's ok though, she deserved it having to lay down here with me and my smell last night!

A daily diary pick, lil ole me? Yippee! Who would have known I'd become so famous, just a little dobie from the midwest. I asked Mom to take me to get ice cream to celebrate, but she's a little under the weather so I'll just get extra bones instead. But that's good too!

Thanks to my pals for the well wishes and congrats!!
