Toki loves playing with dogs, hunting rodents, digging, and climbing.
Toki does not like it when you touch her food - but with training has gotten MUCH better about this and can now be petted during meal time.
Toki's favorite toy is her plush gator.
Toki loves turkey necks.
Toki loves going to Petsmart to meet new people and dogs.
Toki is learning to ace some simple agility obstacles.
Toki was adopted by my husband from Sanctuary Animal Rescue in Alabaster, Alabama. They have a ton of great dogs for adoption and VERY reasonable adoption fees, so please check them out if you live in the area and are looking for a new best friend: http://sanctuaryanimalrescue.com/
Our vet and a few trainers believe that Toki may have a bit of "doggy ADHD." She is WAY more hyperactive than other dogs her age, including dogs of high energy breeds like her (she is schnauzer/border collie!), and additionally is distractable, anxious, restless, has trouble focusing, etc. As a result, she typically needs a combination of sound, touch, and hand signals during training; her hearing is fine, but she can't focus on just your voice well enough!
Toki is extremely intelligent and agile (a little TOO agile; she jumped our six foot fence several times, forcing us to add two feet of extention to it - and she's barely a foot tall!). We are hoping to one day channel her energy into agility. If any area dog owners want to help us tire her our with a playdate, or know of a good place to learn agility, please let us know!
