A Day In The Life Of Bella

Mom told me that when we moved back to Portland, I wouldn't see very much snow, if any at all. She was wrong. Last night I was sleeping in our bedroom when Mommy and Daddy came home. They seemed very excited and told me, "HEY! LET'S GO OUTSIDE! YOU'RE GOING TO BE SOOOO EXCITED!!!" They let Luna and I outside and the deck was COVERED IN SNOW! I went absolutely crazy. I especially like to eat snow. Anyways, I ran and slipped down the stairs, I really didn't care about the slipping. I ran around the yard over and over in my usual paths. I tried to catch some snowflakes in my mouth but failed miserably. That's when I remembered that Luna was upstairs and ran back up the stairs.

I did my "bow-and-butt-wiggle" dance and Luna bowed too. We would play for a little bit, but Luna gets scared of me easily so she would stop the playing but only for a couple of minutes. Mom and Dad would toss snow balls up in the air while Luna and I caught them with our mouths. Luna and I had a blast. It was wonderful. I wish it never had to end. Sadly, the rain came back and melted all the snow. It is Portland afterall.

Wags and kisses,

Books and Whatnot

Mom reads a lot of books about abandoned dogs. I think they inspire her to pick up other dogs that may have lost their Mom and Dad and take them to the shelter. She tells me that when she grows up, she wants to be a vet tech at a shelter. These books push her toward becoming the person she wants to be. She thought that your Mom's and Dad's might like them too.

"The Dogs Who Found Me: And what I've Learned from Pets Who Were Left Behind" By Ken Foster

*"The Dogs I Have Met: And The People They Found" By Ken Foster

"Miracle Dog" by Randy Grim, foreword by Dr. Jane Goodall

*"Don't Dump the Dog: Outrageous Stories and Simple Solutions to Your Worst Dog Behavior Problems" by Randy Grim

"The Man Who Talks to Dogs" by Melinda Roth

"Thanking The Monkey: Rethinking The Way We Treat Animals" By Karen Dawn

And last but not least... I wanted to share something other then just boring books with all of you.

A PAWFECT DOG! A shop one of my Dogster friend's Mom and Dad run! Please, everyone, tell me how your Christmas was? Did you Pawrents get you anything? Did you spend time with any member of your family who you love but don't get to see often?

I always know when Christmas is coming because Mom and Daddy always come home with a whole bunch of things that I don't recognize the smell too. I sniff and sniff and sniff hoping that my curiosity is just my nose playing tricks on me. This year even more yummy smelling things came into the house. Including the 65 dog treats mom made for all of our doggy friends plus the dogs at the local animal shelter AND 219 cat treats for the meowing furballs we all know and the ones at the local animal shelter.

I got lots of kick ace presents including; One Mammoth bone, a sweater (don't ask me about it), a rope toy, a portable water AND food container, and a new brush. I think the pipsqueak (Luna) and I made out like bandits!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

December 1, 2011

It all started November 30th. I knew something was up when I didn't get any snacks past 9:00 p.m. I could tell by the look on mom's face that she was very worried.

The next day, December 1st, we woke up really early. We all piled into Grandma's car and went for a drive that lasted about 30 minutes. Once we got there, mom and Grandma left the car and walked away. After what seemed like forever, mom walked back to the car and took me out and walked me around the side of this building. A pretty lady met us in the back yard and told mom, "No news is good news." Mom and Dad said okay, and reluctantly told me, "Goodbye, Bella."

I went into this building that I am only assuming was a vets office by all of the smells. I could smell tons of kitties and other dogs that I wanted to play with so badly. Instead of that, they poked me with needles and made me REALLY sleepy all the sudden.

When I woke up, I was shaved, drowzy, couldn't keep my eyes open, was in tons of pain, and seeing purple elephants. I stayed like this for a while until finally the pretty lady took me back outside to the yard. And then I saw my Mommy. I was so glad to see her, even though I was high out of my mind, I did the wiggley butt dance for her and Daddy.

On the way home I was really drowzy. I sat on the back seat with my Mommy and just sat and looked at her. She told me that she was sorry. "Bella, I am really sorry you had to go through that. I know you were probably confused. I'm sorry that you had to get shots and get fixed, but it truly was for your own good. You could have gotten really sick and you wouldn't have to been a doctors for way longer then that. I love you, good girl! Plus, you're going to have an swesome scar to show off!"

And I really have been showing off my shaved tummy and scar. It looks pretty cool. (Mom said she'll post a picture a little later.) It's been 12 days, I'm not wearing the cone anymore and mom doesn't get upset when I chase Luna, our newest K9 addition to the family, around the house. Today Mom even told me that we're all going on the first walk I've had in 14 days! Woo-hoo! It's about time!

Wags And Kisses,

I am very excited to see that there's a social networking forum for us canines. I am hoping to meet some companions when we move back to Oregon. I want to play with other dogs, but I sometimes seem aggressive. I need meet other dogs that are really mellow and take a lot of crap, simply because when I first meet another dog, I seem to look mean. Any suggestions?
