Arrival Story:
My late husband and I already had 3 dogs when puppy Angel appeared in our front yard. She was thin, frightened and desperate for care. We opened the front door, our crazy black lab/blue heeler cross rushed out, herded Angel into the house and they started playing like they'd known each other all their lives. Our very old girl, Gemma, was a bit put out but then gently accepted her, just a week before she quietly passed away at the age of 15 from cancer of the spine. Gessie, now the oldest, a Huntaway/Staffie cross became Angel's big sister and Frodo, the black lab cross, her best friend and playmate. I later found out from the boys at the school in which I was teaching, that Angel had been thrown out of a moving car in our street because she was "useless" - she wouldn't fight!!! She was the off-spring of the family pet cream labrador and one of the father's illegal fighting pitbulls. When they found Angel wouldn't fight they threw her away and she adopted us. I always thought she was special from the momemt we met. Why Angel? Well, she has two fluffy little white wings, perfectly matching, one on each shoulder! I think all dogs have angel's wings but in my baby's case, you can actually see them! :)

When my husband died, Angel was my strongest support, licking my face when I wept, lying still by my side when I needed her, putting up with hours of clingy human hugging and just being there - literally my guardian Angel. I don't know what I would have done without her. Then when Gessie died, I helped Angel grieve the loss of her old sister. Angel and Frodo missed Gessie terribly for weeks. Now our little pack is down to three but our bond is as strong as ever. 18 October 2013 - Angel's buddy, Frodo left us and now our little pack is down to two. I am here for Angel and Angel is here for me - we do miss our noisy old boy though! Always will.
