 Quick Bio:
 Birthday: February 25th 2005
Likes: His mom!!! He sticks by my side as much as possible.

Pet-Peeves: He's not fond of anyone who comes to the house. I have to introduce him slowly. And he used to chase my old cat, "Smudge."

Favorite Toy: I am his favorite toy! But he loves to wrestle with "Misty," "Chowder," and "Flurry," too.

Favorite Food: Any meat or cheese.

Favorite Walk: He loves the shore of the Connecticut River.

Best Tricks: I'm most impressed with his ability to adapt. In 11 months he's made great strides at becoming a nice boy!

Arrival Story: "Talcum" is the 19th dog I've owned. I was contacted by Denise G., who runs the wonderful rescue group called ESKIES ONLINE (http://www.eskiesonline.com), in February 2009. Denise had already placed two other dogs ("Flurry" and "Chowder") with me and she knew that I adore American Eskimo Dogs. Denise asked me if I would be willing to provide a "foster home" for "Talcum," because his family (from New York) decided to give up on him.
I don't know too much about "Talcum"'s background as of January 2011. But suffice it to say that my "foster home" soon turned into "Talcum"'s permanent home, and I will keep him happy and healthy for the rest of his long life. He has done beautifully with us! I think all he needed was a calm, quiet home without children or drama, and he found the perfect spot with us.
I am waiting to get more info on his background, and I'll update when I know more about him. All I know is that his name was "Jack" when I adopted him, but I immediately started calling him "Talcum" (in honor of old "Powder," who was the best dog for 15 years).
Nothing makes me smile more than seeing a dog's behavior change for the better. When "Talcum" came here he was a snapper, and he also liked to nip at people whenever he felt threatened. For the first week, he wouldn't even let me put a leash on him, so to get around that I would sit on the floor until he climbed onto my lap, and then I'd quietly snap the clasp on his collar. It took me another week to gain his trust enough so that I could replace his collar with a harness, and we've made great strides ever since then.
Eleven months later, and he's a happy, fun boy. He sticks by my side like glue. He is sleeps on my pillows every night, and lets me lie my head right on him. So his nickname's Pillow, and he's doing great.
