Best Tricks:
Stretch can now walk when told to walk, sit, down (lay), settle, and we are working on stay and turn left and turn right.

Arrival Story:
Unforntantely we purchased him from a pet store. Fortunatley he has been healthy. Just happened to run in and get something I needed and there was this 4 month old long haired baby. His price was marked from $900 to $200. That bothered me so I asked the sales lady why the huge price decrease. She said because of his age so someone will buy him. I asked her what happens in 2 months when he is still here. She told me they would keep lower the price. I didnt beleive that. My husband met me there we spent some time with him and he came home with us.

Bio:
The little over 2 years we have had Stretch has been a challange for sure LOL. Talking about a wild child. I have never seen a dog with so much energy. And talking about peeing out of excitment didnt know he had so much in him LOL. But we dont love him any less. As silly as Stretch is he still listens the best (actually the only one) off a leash and outside the fence. He also lives to please but has a hard time controlling his energy. Since Stretch as started his basic obedience class this Aug (2005) he no longer pees everywhere or rolls over and pees our of excitement. He also listens really well now and just aims to please.

I graduated from obedience school yesterday YEAH! I did well but I think I tensed up on the test a little bit. I was so nervous I was going to do something wrong. But I passed and then we got to play the rest of the class period with all my classmates and through tunnels. It was fun.

I also met my new foster sister (whos page is on its way) named Bella. She is a Hurricane Katrina survivor and only 10 weeks old. She was being boarded at my class and we brought her home last night.

And in 2 more weeks I get to start pre agility classes. I am so excited I can hardly wait YIP YIP - YipRay!!!!!!!!

3rd Week of Training Class

Class was very tiring tonight. When we got there Sam and I decided we didnt like each other tonight for some reason, so we had to be kept apart.

We did our basic warm up with start with lets walk and sit. When our minds were fully focused after this warm up my teacher introduced puppy push ups.

They were really a lot of work. Talking about wearing me out. A puppy push up consist of a sit, stand, down (lay) and stand. We had to do this over and over an dover again until we had to completely down. By the way my down is laying on my side (dad says its looks like a playing dead instead).

Then we learned something new tonight. We are learning to stay. I didnt care of that much I wouldnt to go were Daddy was going. I have the concept down and know what stay means I just dont always do it . So I guess that is what my homework is this week.

Then we got to do something fun. We got to run from one end of the class to the other. My teacher said it was actually learning but it was fun to me. I would be walked down to one end my a stange lady and daddy would say Stretch Come and I would run to Daddy. Thats fun to me not learning but what ever the teacher says.

Then we got a break and the teacher walked around and petted and talked to us. Then she took one of the other dogs in class and their owner walked around and did the same thing. Until everyone did it.

Then the last thing we learned was turn right and turn left. Well I havent learned it yet but I am sure I will know it for sure for next week.

Thats all for now I have Stay and turn left and right homework to do.

Obedience Training

Tonight will be my 3rd training session. I really enjoy these classes. They give me some one on one time with Mommy and Daddy without my brothers and sisters.

The first week of class was very stressful. First I got sick in the truck on the way to class. I felt sorry bor mommy haveing to clean it up while daddy walked me around. When class started I got to meet 2 other doggies. I like to meet to friends. I think I like their humans better though. I learned how to walk on a lead instead of my halter. I want thrilled about the idea and it took awhile to get the hang of. Daddy would walk me around and I would decide I didnt want to so I would lay down in the middle of walking. I got the hang of it towards the end though. I learned sit really quick - thats an easy one especially when you get TREATS everytime you sit. They last thing we worked on was settle but there wasnt much for me to settle to because I was to tired to do much.

We worked on settle a few times during the week when I had extra energy. I dont like this command but I will eventually settle. I have mastered Lets Walk on a lead and will sit any time you tell me too now with or without a treat. The smiles on Mommys and Daddys faces is enough for me.

The second week of class was better. I didnt get sick in the truck this time. I should my teacher how pretty I can walk on a lead and how beautifully I can sit. She was very immpressed. Oh Yeah we got another doggie friend in class tongiht. And he is little like me so I was happy.

We learned how to stand tonight. I didnt take long at all. It was pretty easy. Then it was time to learn down. I seem to be having trouble with this one. I just dont want to lay down. I would rather just sit. Me and Sam - one of my new doggie friends- both had trouble with this new trick. But I promsed my teacher I would practice it this week and be ready for our next class.

Tonight is our 3rd class. YEAh I am excited about going. I learned how to go down. Well pretty good anyway. I wont lay flat on my stomach but when told down will lay on my side. Mommy and Daddy said that was good enough. We are suppose to have a competition tonight. Cant wait to see what it is.
