Arrival Story:
I had no intention of getting another dog. I heard about a hoarding situation and wanted to help. I asked my husband if we could foster a pup and after much deliberation he said yes but there was no way I would foster. We had no idea what any of the pups looked like and when we picked him up I fell in love.

I don't know much about his history except that he was in a home with at least 40 other dogs. I don't even know if he ever went outside or had a toy. He is extremely affectionate though and getting braver every day. Update 2/8/11 I've had Todd for about a month now and he is just a wonderful little dog. He gets along great with Chewy and Loki and Angus is still a little standoffish with him. He gets braver everyday and only cowers when I come after him with a wet wipe. When I took Todd for his neuter i found out he wasn't 5 months like we thought but probably more like 2 yrs. it made me sad to think that for 2 yrs no one cared about him enough to name him. We now feel that Todd was between 7-9 months when I got him so we have made his b-day my b-day.

Hi everyone I'm Todd. Last year I was too shy and still a little scared about my new surroundings so mom told my story.
Lets start with a little back story.
I started my life in a hoarders house. There were more than forty other dogs on the property. Life was hard. Mom doesn't know how hard. I don't want her to get upset. I mean she cried because no one cared enough to give me a name. An angel took notice of our plight one day and called the authorities. Sometimes thats all it takes is a phone call to change a life. Saviors showed up and took us all away. It was a very confusing and scary time. It was the weekend of Christmas 2010. We ended up in the shelter first. Then we left there and I found my way to my moms arms. I just lay in her arms in the car and gave her little kisses every once in a while. When we got to my new home I was so overwhelmed and scare that I crawled on my belly everywhere. Slowly with the help of my new brofurs and my new family I started to relax a little and trust more. i was a lucky one. Unfortunately some o my house mates weren't so lucky. They died soon after that first taste of freedom. (wipes tear}
Ok I din't come here to depress you I came to tell you what joy being rescued brings to a dog.
For one thing food. This is a big one for me as I was very underweight when I came to live here. I've gained 4lbs! I get fed everyday! I don't have to fight for my food! And I soon learned that I didn't have to supplement my diet with kitty crunchies.(blushes)
I have two brofurs that are poms and two that are kitties. I love each and everyone of them. There were lots of dogs where I came from but we were just fighting for survival. Here we play. We wrestle, play tug o war, chase, explore the woods, chase squirrels, and just hang out. I even play with the kittie.
Here my human family pays attention to me. I am smothered in love and can ask for attention any time I want. I get to go places to. We visit people, go boating, to the drive in, and for walks. I love going where we will meet new people and dogs. I still am very shy and kind of scared but I love people so much. Moms grand kids came to visit. As soon as they let the little one loose from his cage and put him in a chair I jumped right in his lap. I love when people come to visit. I will go to them before I will go to mom and dad! BOL!
I can go anywhere I want. In the house I'm allowed in all the rooms and on the furniture. I sleep in mom and dads bed. Outside I have a huge yard that includes woods. We go walking and exploring. My world is so much bigger than it ever was.
What can I say. I'm a happy dog. Unless I'm sleeping there is usually a big smile on my face. The best thing about rescue is the joy of love and companionship. The companionship and love I give to my family and they to me. My wish, hope, and dream is that people will realize the plight that so many dogs are going through and when they plan for their next furbaby they adopt not shop.
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!:D

No Name

I have a lot of friends on Facebook who do rescue. Around the 23 of Dec. 2010 one of them posted about a pomeranian hoarders house getting raided. They humane society had come in and taken over 20 dogs from the house and they were trying to get rescues to pull the dogs.
A friend of mine from Dogster who lives about a half hr from me had saw it too and wanted to foster.
I wasn't looking for another dog and had never fostered before but pommies are my heart breed and I really wanted to do something.
Well I started working on my husband. Telling him about the situation and he would just look at me and say what do you expect me to do.
Then I got an e-mail with a few of the dogs on it. No pictures just descriptions.
All of them had names but one. It said he was 5 months old, small and a red parti.
I thought if I got a younger dog he might be easier integrate and bounce back from his ordeal.
I went back to work on my husband. Finally he said ok but you know you aren't going to foster it. He was right I knew I wouldn't be able to give away any dog I brought home.
On December 26 My daughter Jordyn and I and Loki set out With Roxanne and her boyfriend to meet up with some rescuers. Roxanne was going to foster Dusty and Patch and I was going to adopt No Name. On the way there she recieves a call from some of the rescuers who have been back to the house for more dogs. They have taken more than 40 dogs from the house.
We drove an hr from my house and met in a parking lot. It was cold and nasty and the dogs were wrapped up and shivering with fright. Except Dusty who was just plain excited.
I saw No Name for the first time and he broke my heart he was so cute, small and underweight.
We got back in our car. I had No Name on my lap and Jordyn had Loki.
Dusty and Patch were up front with Roxanne and John.
Todd just layed in my arms and looked at me and gave me a little lick on the nose. I was in love. On the way back to our car and he just stared at me or tried to get closte to Loki. My Little sweetheart of a dog wasn't havin it.
When we finally got home I put him down outside to go potty and brought the other dogs out to have a look at him. they soon move on and ignored him. Todd on the other hand had his tail tucked and was crawling on his belly.
In the house we went and I felt terrible but I had to bath him twice to get the dirt and smell off him. I felt awful since he was so scared.
Freshly bathed I took him back to my room. I put him on my bed and he crawled right on me and cuddled and licked me. I couldn't believe how affectionate this little guy was.
Jordyn names him Todd after the fox in The Fox and the Hound cause he has a foxy little face.
Off the bed was a different story. He crawled everywhere. He ran away if you were standing or walking. He didn't want to come back in the house when you put him out in the pen to potty.
Next I take him to the vets to have him checked out and neutered. There I find out that the vet thinks according to his teeth his is probably 2yrs not 5 months. He also has worms.
By the time I get home I'm extremely upset thinking about the fact that he is 2 yrs old and nobody cared enough about him to give him a name. I'm crying and I can't stop.
Todd is scared and skittish but so wants to be around the family. He follows me wherever I go but will run if you make a move towards him.
After about a week or so the crawling has just about stopped. he knows his name and wiggles his butt when you call him but still won't come up to you.
He has won Chewy over but is still working on Angus and Loki.
I get on the floor with him a lot lay down try to get my self as low as possible. the other dogs are all over me and this boosts his courage and he soon is too.
Seeing him lay next to Loki on the couch and Loki not get up and walk away makes my whole week. then one day I see Angus lick his face and I know we're in the clear.
Todds confidence grows by leaps and bounds and he impresses me with his progress. When I take him to play with the dogs out in the snow he plays with such joy and abandonment he makes me smile and laugh.
He has become the perfect companion. You would never know by meeting him where he came from. He is just so happy and joyous.
It makes me cry writing this just thinking about how far he has come. My husband loves him and says he's where he belongs.
I have to keep a close eye on people cause everyone who meets him wants him. I feel so lucky that he is mine.
I like to think he likes it here too.
That is the story of No Name who is now Todd.
But that is not the end just the beginning.
