Woof to all my Dawgs!

Wow, I haven't written in here for a few years, what's up with that? I will get after Mom about that for sure!

Well, I now live in Missouri! How's that for a big change, huh? It's been a big adjustment, but as long as I am with my family, that is ok. I've made some new friends here, my best pal is a Pekingese named Slugger. I also have 2 other pals, a Corgi named Mazee and a Chocolate Lab named Sandy. I'll have mom post some newer pics soon too.

We don't get as much snow here, but when we do, woohooo, Mom takes me to a baseball field to turn me loose. I run and run and run!! Sometimes we go to the dog park, but I do not enjoy it as much as I used to. I am 6 yrs old and cranky! :P

I will try to update much more often, sheesh!

Not feeling very well.

The vet says I have struvite crystals. I'm now on my 2nd round of medication, which Mom hides in some food. She's very sneaky, just like a Shiba! Mom had to change my diet also. First she tried switching me to a kibble that was lower in protein, but it didn't seem to help, so now I"m eating prescription kibble and canned food. Mom said it was either try that or I would need to have an x-ray (which means I'd be sedated) to see if the crystals have formed into stones. We're hoping I won't need to do that. I'm good to the vet when I have to visit, but not when I have to stay for awhile. I miss my Mom!! I hope this new stuff works. It tastes yummy at least!!

Shibas walking in support of dog rescue in Ontario

Hiya pals!

Two weeks from tomorrow, my Shiba pals from the Toronto Shiba Inu Meetup group and myself are heading to Toronto to take part in the 4th Annual K9 Rescue Me Walkathon. There will be 20 rescues pariticipating to promote dog rescue and to raise money for each rescue.

The Shibas will be walking in support of Shiba Rescue GTA, http://www.shibarescuegta.ca of which my Mom and her good pal, Lynn co-founded together. The group is non-profit and any monies raised all goes to the Shibas needing their help.

It's my Birthday today!!!!

Rooohoooo!!! I'm 3 yrs old today! Mom says I'm such a big boy now! I feel all grown up too. In the past year, I've become more of a watch dog. Any time the door bell rings, I howl and howl! Mom thinks it's cute. Cute??? I'm not being cute, I'm defending my family! Hmph.

Anyway, Mom said I have to wait until she gets home from work to give me my present. What's up with that? It was my birthday the moment I woke up this morning!! Gimme!! Mom always gets neat stuff, I can't wait!!!

I hope I get treats too...yumm!!!!

I like being 3, it's cool!

It's been a long time!

Wow, I haven't written in my diary in ages! I've been very busy you know. Being a Shiba means never sitting still, not even for a moment! Let's see...well...I've taken another class with my teacher. It was real cool 'cause the only other dog in the class was my pal, a Dutch Sheepdog also named Sushi! lol Teacher said we couldn't do our exercises at the same time, 'cause we'd get confused when our Mom's would call our names, hehehe.

It was a good class, according to Mom, but I found it kinda boring. I'd done that class already, and I could tell that the other Sushi felt the same way. But, she HAD to take the class 'cause her Mom wanted her to compete in something called conformation. And, guess what? They did compete and she did really well! YAY!

Mom said I had to take the class with her 'cause I wasn't behaving around other dogs. Hmph. Whatever. I ended up having to wear this weird looking thing across my face. Mom says it's called a muzzle. Teacher said if I behaved around any new dogs I met, Mom would take it off as my reward. Mom put peanut butter inside of it, so that made it not so bad I guess.

Anyways, it's been a few months since all of that nonsense. Mom made me wear that muzzle thing during our walks. Every walk is also homework for me, for some reason. Mom says she doesn't care that I'm a teenager, that every walk will always be homework for us. Sheesh! Good thing sometimes we skip the walk and play soccer in the backyard instead for fun. Although...when we go for a walk, I get to see a lot of my dog pals. And, Mom says I am getting better when greeting other dogs.

Today, we walked past a black Lab named Sandy. I'd met her before, and Mom knows she is aggressive. Sandy's owner is a very good owner and makes sure Sandy behaves herself. Mom took me to the side and had me sit beside her, and said hello to Sandy and her Mom, so I'd know they were "ok". Mom was so impressed with me 'cause I didn't react at all. So, all that hard work is starting to pay off, and even though she brings my muzzle, she doesn't make me wear it anymore. She says it's "just in case". I don't like the sound of those words, so I"m gonna behave myself!

On Sunday, I'm going to see the Toronto Blue Jays. This is my 3rd time going. One of my Shiba pals, Bushi is going with his Mom & Dad. Bushi is cool, but last time I growled at him. Maybe I'll be nicer to him this time. We get to be in a Doggy Parade before the game too, it's kinda fun.

Well, Mom says it's time for quiet time, so I better go. I"ll try to keep up with my diary more often.

Sushi's Christmas Wish List to Santa Paws

Dear Santa Paws:

I was going to leave milk & cookies for you, but well...I ate them.
They were really good too! Sorry about that. Please don't put me on
your naughty list!

Mom said I should make a wish list, so here it is:

1. More cookies & treats, preferably things like cheese, bacon,
steak, chicken.

2. More Merrick canned food - I love that stuff and lick my bowl
clean every single time!!

3. TOYS!!!!!!!!!!! Let's see...I like big ones, so I can tackle
them. Stuffed animals are always really good too - I like to play
catch with them and then SHAKE them really hard. They have to have a
squeeker too!

4. Balls, balls & more balls please - I need more for outside. Maybe
a football, I don't have that yet.

5. Bones. Peanut butter flavoured ones are the best!

6. Peanut butter - love the stuff!

7. People type cookies, like oatmeal - yuuummmyy!!!!

8. To go to the leash-FREE park every single day, all day, 24/7.

9. To not have to wear a collar, that'd be awesome!!!

10. For the cats to allow me to chase them 24/7, without any hissing
or swatting.

11. NO MORE WIPING MY PAWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12. No more baths

13. Lots of spoilings, which is like a massage from my Mom.

13. Lots of scratches on the butt, ears & belly please!

14. To see my doggy friends every day, especially Bella :):)

15. To be spoiled beyond belief.

16. To not have my nails clipped EVER AGAIN!

Could you also please leave a nice toy or treat for Tatiana, Bailey,
and Einstein? They are pretty nice (tolerant) of me, so
they deserve a present too.

And, of course, please give a present to my mom & dad - they take
pretty good care of me (except the paws being wiped, that could stop
any time now !).

For the New Year, I promise to not SCREAM my head off, unless it's
for a legitimate reason. I promise to listen to my mom & dad,
especially my mom. I promise to not scare Bailey so much. I promise
to play nicely with Tatiana. I promise.... oh please!!! I'm a
Shiba!!!! I can't promise all these things, it would be totally out
of character and Santa Paws, I think even YOU would agree, that this
will never happen.

Please remember all the good things I've done this year. Hey, there
are SOME good things!!!

Have a safe trip, and please be good to my family and friends, here
are the Shiba Group too, please!

I have stitches

I don't know what stitches are, but I have them. You see, about 2 weeks ago, Mom & Dad took me to the vet. Usually they stick something in me, and then we go home. But, this time, I had to stay :( I didn't like it at all! Everything was weird there, weird noises, weird smells, weird people. I had something attached to my paw, I didn't like it so I chewed it right off!

Mom said I had eaten something and it was making me sick. So, they had to go into my tummy to get it out. When Mom & Dad came to get me, I didn't even recognize them, I was so out of it and tired. I cried on the way home, but Mom held me the whole way. I love my Mom :) Dad took good care of me too. They did everything they could, they even made a big comfy bed in the livingroom for me. They slept downstairs with me for a few days too! It was really nice of them.

I'm feeling much better now. Yesterday, the vet took out my stitches. I didn't want to go back, I was so scared. But, I"m glad I didn't have to be there for very long.

Mom treated me to the park in the afternoon. The best part is I got to see my girlfriend, Bella, and a bunch of other Shiba Inus too! All my friends were there to see me! Everyone asked how I was doing, and we swapped vet stories. None of us like it there!

I'm better now. Mom says so far so good, I haven't been sick. I'm getting good treats again too - roohoo!!! That's gotta be a good sign!

Today is my Birthday! Roohoo!!!!

Mom says today I turn 2 yrs old. Not sure what that means, but so far I like it! This morning, I got an extra treat, we took a walk and I got to play with my Border Collie friend, Angus. Then, when we came home I played soccer!! Usually all I get to do is go for a walk. Oh! I chased the cats too! I'm so excited! Mom said when she and Dad get home today, I'm getting presents!! I don't know what that is either, but it sounds good!!
