Arrival Story:
I found Lucy at 4 AM returning home all drunk from a party. She was sitting under a street lamp in front of a school wearing a too-tight collar and tasteful leather leash. She seemed really out of it, timid. I sat down on the curb a few feet from her and patted the cement to invite her over. She declined, pretending instead to study the grass. I inched closer and let her smell my hand. Then I pet her head and she leaned her whole body against my leg. Anyway, took her home, bathed her and my boyfriend brought over some food. The funny thing was, I had been talking to all the people at the party that night about how I was in the market for a dog (preferably a Beagle) and there was this delirious little Beagly puppy there I was playing with. I thought it was kismet, but, as it turned out, Lucy was a lot of work. She was dehydrated, had a slipped disk, bb's were imbedded under her skin, and she had seizures. One day, about two weeks after I found her, she and I were driving around the area where we first met. I pulled over and grabbed one of my "Found Dog" flyers to staple to a telephone poll. Then I heard someone say, "Hey, where did you find that dog?" Turns out, Lucy had escaped from the yard across the street. But the people who had her said they were moving and couldn't keep her. They found her roaming the neighborhood and took her in. Now I got her. She's totally ungrateful.

Bio:
We believe Lucy's time on the streets taught her a thing or two about survival. She never kisses, but my vet said that she had defenitely been knocked up and delivered a litter. Guess she knows where kisses lead.
