Arrival Story:
Sprocket "James" is the grandson of my two darling old (dec'd) Boxer dogs, Darby and Dharma. At the age of 5, Sprocket's mother, a purebred Boxer was mated with a Queensland Blue Heeler. There were 6 pups in that litter, 4 girls and 2 boys, Sprocket inclusive. The first little girl was born without anyones knowledge and the second one soon followed closely. The third little girl was a lot bigger however and took almost 2 hours to deliver. In the end Charlie was struggling and in distress so Charlie's mum and myself interveined and helped deliver the little one as quickly as we could. Sprocket was delivered immediately, blue, unresponsive and obviously a still born. I dont know what it was, whether it was instinct or not but I seized his lifeless body and started rubbing furiously, cleared his airways and slapped him on the bottom. After 10 minutes my efforts started to pay off. His tiny body started to move and he made his very first mewing sounds of survival! I handed him to his mother Charlie and from there she took over and nursed him. The two last remaining puppies were born without any complications and all 6 survived. From that day forward the bond between Sprocket and I has been complete. His mother Charlie was struggling being a new first time mother and ended up rejecting both the boys almost from the begining so we took our Sprocket at one week old and he has been by our side ever since. His loyalty, love and companionship that he shows my brother and I is staggering. I have never had a dog like Sprocket and the fact that he is a descendant from my two beautiful Boxers seals the deal.
