Arrival Story:
Our family got Remi on Dec 1st, 2010-we are fostering him as a trial because we've never had a dog and we want to make sure he gets along with our cat Checkers and fits our family. We found him on Petfinder and understand he came from a high-kill shelter in KY and was brought to Ontario Canada with a couple of other dogs and placed into Rescue. We love Remi. He's very sweet and loves to cuddle. So far, he's pretty quiet and has only howled and barked once. He is being crate trained and doesn't have freedom of the house yet since we've only had him 5 days. He's being gentle with our cat, Checkers which is very good. We adopted Remi in Jan 2011-he's our boy officially now:) Remi still needs lots of training and to go to dog school but, he's had kennel cough, ear mites and ear infections. His ears have bothered him ever since he came to us but, he went to the Vets twice and they were only cleaned them and he needed more done. His recovering and done his antibiotics and cough medication but, has to continue to stay away from other dogs for a couple of weeks. I will be good, we hope, when he's able to get to dog school so we can train him. He's learned to sit but, really doesn't pay attention well and come when called-it would be nice to teach him things so he could try and be off leash and be out of his crate when we are not home, but, he has destroyed some things and has some separation anxiety...lots to do still, but, we love him.
