Arrival Story:
I finally decided I was ready to add another pup back into my life so I began to research some of the small dog breeds to find one that would be best suited to my needs/lifestyle. Lo and behold, Chihuahua came up as the #1 pick! After that, I set out to find my little baby and found a breeder who lives just 10 miles down the road and had just had a litter of pups! I went to see them, and spent a little time with each pup (they were about 2 weeks old at that time) and actually found myself "chosen" by a little cream colored longhaired boy. Hmmmm....I was actually hoping for a short haired female. LOL! Funny how fate works. :) I was hopelessly hooked on this little fella, and the breeder was always happy to allow me to come visit as often as I liked, so I was there every Wednesday and Saturday to visit and socialize with Manny for an hour or so. Then on Saturday, Dec. 11, I brought Manny home. I've been truly blessed with him! :)

Funny thing....Manny's birthday is the day before his big sister, Trocair's birthday! This makes planning the whole doggie birthday party soooooo much easier! LOL!

Everything started out great yesterday. It was cool and cloudy, so mommy and I snuggled while she drank her coffee, and daddy went to help our neighbor fix a fence. Then when daddy got back home, I was all excited cuz I could tell they were getting ready to go in the truck...and that means I get to go for a ride!
Yeah, no. They left me HERE! Oh well, I just hopped up on the couch and snuggled in with Trocair. She makes a really nice, warm snuggle buddy when mom's gone. heheee!

It seemed like days before they got home, but finally I heard the truck pulling in the driveway! YAAAY! Mommy's home! I was sooo excited....until mommy opened the door. There, in the door way was a big, strange D...O...G! Grrrrr! "Hey YOU!" I barked. "Get out of here!" ...but mommy said it was okay, he was SUPPOSED to be here! Whaaaaaat?! Surely she was joking!

Nope. She wasn't joking. This big goofball is here to stay. I do NOT like him! He keeps coming up and poking his nose in my face while I'm trying to sleep on mommy's lap! I growl at him, but he just doesn't get it! Mommy says he's my new brother and his name is Rio...I so did NOT sign up for getting a new brother! *sigh*
Oh well, at least my snuggle time with mommy hasn't changed. Mommy says that I'm still her #1 snuggle-bug and I will always be. That's good to know. I love my mommy!

A Very Busy Day and Mommy's Surprise For ME!

Today was soooo busy....and LOTS of adventure was had....well, at least from a pup's perspective.

First off, mommy and daddy loaded a large wire dog crate into the back of our truck and backed down to the barn. I was so excited cuz I was getting to go, so I was standing on the back of the seat watching. Mommy disappeared into the barn, and daddy stood beside the crate waiting. Next thing I know, mommy brings out this HUGE white and black bird with red and blue folds of skin on his head and put him into the crate! They then covered the crate with a tarp cuz it was kinda chilly today. I had never seen such a thing before, and he made funny sounds. Mommy says he was a tom.... I thought Tom was someone's name???...and someone was buying him, so we were headed to deliver him to his new owner.

Well, we reached our destination at the WMart parking lot for trading him off. The new owner lives quite a long way away, so mommy said this was about half way between our two places. Anyway, we were just pulling in when a big ambulance came speeding in with it's lights and siren going! I was like "?!?!?!?!!!!" Mommy giggled at me, so I knew it was nothing to be scared of...but right after IT came a HUGE fire truck with IT'S lights and sirens going!! Apparently someone had gotten hurt or sick in the WMart! I don't know what happened, cuz mommy and daddy got out and made me stay in the truck until they got Onslow (the tom) all situated in his new owner's vehicle. Mommy says he's going to make lotsa babies. Uh, mom? T.M.I!

Next we went to Lowes to check pricing on some things like materials for making the new coop and chicken yard for mommy's chickens and also mommy wanted to look at seeds....she thinks she's going to try to grow another garden. After what I hear her tell of the FIRST garden, I think she would be better off just going and getting veggies from the store...but I digress.
Anyway, we were there for a long time, and I got to walk and sniff everything and I met soooooo many people and lots of little kids who wanted to pet me! I LOVE attention! :) I was pretty tired when we left there.

One final stop was PetSmart (I love this place) and I got to meet even more people and pups too. A big Samoyed came up to me and I got scared and squeaked and ran to hide behind mommy's leg. Everyone just laughed. We marched up and down the aisles, "browsing" as mommy calls it, until we came to the toy section. Every time we go there, mommy looks for a specific toy for me and they're always out of stock, but today they had ONE left so mommy snagged it and got a package of something to go with it! I was ecstatic! Mommy got something for me! YAY!

Back in the truck now for the hour ride home, and mommy is busy putting something together. I can smell something yummy! When mommy finally hands it to me I go right to chewing! This toy is round and made of a squishy, firm, rubber stuff and there are 2 on each end. The package she bought was "refills" since the ball only came with one, and mommy wanted to have a treat at both ends. She calls it an Everlasting Treat Ball...and it's AWESOME! I LOVE IT!

Thank you mommy for my new treat/toy!!! I will enjoy it for a very, very long time!

My shiny new medal

I went back to the doctor for my last round of boosters which included one for something called rabies....I thought maybe that's what they called baby rabbits, but was just another needle poke. Go figure.

The Dr weighed me, and I have doubled my weight again! I weigh 4.2 pounds! Mommy says I'm gonna be a big chihuahua. The Dr says I'm in perfect condition, and I can get "fixed" any time now. Mommy says that's when they will take off these extra parts that I don't need.

Anyway, I have to get a special shot just to make sure I don't have a reaction to the other shots, so this time I got poked 3 times!! mommy says I was really brave and I didn't even cry! That's cuz I'm tuff, even if mommy DOES call me her sweetie little puppy boy! Heheeee!
When we were all through the Dr gave me a treat as usual, but when we were checking out, the lady behind the desk handed mommy something besides the normal papers she gets. I couldn't tell what it was, but I was really curious!
When we got home, mommy took off my collar and showed me what the lady had given her. It was a pretty green medal in the shape of a bell! Mommy says I got it cuz I was super brave when I got all those needle pokes. She said it also lets everyone know that I have had ALL my shots for this year! YAY!
Now, I proudly show off my special medal everywhere I go! It jingles against my name tag, so everyone can hear me coming!
