We had talked about getting a dog and one day ended up at a store in Japan that sold pets, so we thought we'd just take a look. When we saw the cost we didn't think we could afford any of them, but saw one on sale. He was about 7 months old, so they had pulled him to the back. He seemed very tired and scared and after holding him, we couldn't leave without him and after a couple of hours of translation from English to Japanese and Japanese to English, we took him home! We named him Shogun, because we got him in Japan and we are a military family. It means ("a commander of a force") which is a military rank and historical title for (in most cases) hereditary military dictator of Japan" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shog un)
