I am so happy that I was picked today to be dog of the day, me and mommy have come so far the past two years.
I came into my mommies life when she needed me the most and she found out a year later that thier was a reason we must have found each other.
Me and mommy attended puppy classes since I was 10 weeks old we completed 3 sets of 8 classes and then moved on to another place and did another 2 sets of 9 classes. Mommy enjoyed the time we went to the classes and the time we trained at home daily.
You see mommy suffers with PTSD, anxiety and depression and I was the one thing that gave her something that she felt she is really good at, it took her mind off things. We did great in the classes and I was a star student the trainer said ,mind you Mommy was always so positive and gentle when teaching me.
So a year into me being with mommy and us training she found out about Psychiatric Service Dogs and how they help thier owners and how she would go about making me her Psychiatric service dog.
So mommy now keeps a daily log, has a private trainer, we passed our CGN, she spoke to her doctor about it and got a note, attended SD seminars, joined a on-line PSD group and found some wonderful friends who also have PSD. We are now working with a trainer towards the public access test that we hope to take this winter.
Mommy says I may be small but I fill her heart and she is thankful for me each and everyday, she says that she can do things and go places that before was unpleasent and scary to her.
On Sunday June 17th I passed my CGN, it is the same as the CGC but in Canada.
Mommy was super nervous but I did great and we passed with flying colors, mommy will post pictures of it when it comes in the mail. She didn't get a video or pictures as she said if she seen daddy she would have been to nervous.
