Arrival Story:
It's a happy story! We'd already had our Lab-Border Collie mix, Rex, for a couple years, and had been considering adopting another dog to keep him company. 2009 we spent Christmas in Florida at my sister-in-law's, where her 2 rat terriers had recently had a large litter of cute lil black furballs. As we stayed with them for 3 weeks, it didn't take us long to fall in love! Pepper, whose name was Spot at the time, was 2 months old and the cutest lil runt ever! She wasn't exactly runty, but she was different from all the other pups. She was a tiny bit smaller, but just as fast and energetic. She had a curly cue tail that wagged up and down while all the other dogs had straight tails that wagged side to side. She had floppy ears while theirs were learning to point straight up in the air. And, of course, she had the cutest lil underbite ever, a short pug nose and was the best cuddler and biggest sook in the whole bunch! Perhaps that's why I loved her so much? The second she was tired out from running in the beautiful Miami heat, she would hop into my lap and fall asleep. Of course... my bf had told me we were definitely not getting one, so don't even think about getting attached. If we were getting another dog, he wanted a big dog. Not a little rat, he said. Needless to say, when I'd lost all hope, Pepper became mine Christmas morning. Hands down, best Christmas ever!
